      Right?

      I’m constantly amazed how many foreigners are aware of what’s going on in US politics and even details about how our government works.

      1. It shows how much our shitty politics affect the world. I’m sorry.

      2. It highlights how bad Americans are at paying attention and doing their homework because most Americans have no fucking clue what’s going on or how their own government works.

      To be fair, I’m barely aware of what’s going on in other nation’s politics, but that’s largely because I’m hyper aware of what’s going on in U.S. politics and, unfortunately, that takes up a lot of my time and patience and sanity.

        Honestly, I know more about US politics than about my own country because I spend more time on Lemmy than reading newspapers. And any time on Lemmy automatically exposes you to US news day in day out

        That’s by design. It’s the same reason you aren’t required to take Statistics in high school. If people knew the actual odds of winning the lottery they wouldn’t play. Since the poorest Americans and typically only high school graduates play the lottery religiously it make sense.

        I don’t think it’s just not knowing their rights and such. It also needs to get worse before it gets better. Ever maybe change in government across history wasn’t done with protests or signing petitions. It was done with a physical revolution. Until we got that point it will be the same shit.

          The 68’s movement, MLK, German unification come to mind. What they, however, had in common was that violence was on the table or at least a plausible development. Those in power just figured that gunning down citizens wouldn’t be in their best long term interest.

              Don’t get me wrong, I eat meat. But everyone equating beastiality to human rape needs to also own up to the billions I guess they are saying they genocide. Not to mention the farmer-rapists jacking and jilling off the animals for forced breeding.

                  Oh, it’s not the sex with dogs, it’s the watered down use of “rape” to mean everything from someone taking a picture of you in public with your clothes on that you didn’t approve, to seeing an ugly man in a thong, to apparently fucking a dog.

                  I understand that it comes off as weird in this instance. Luckily I’m in a shitposting comm, shitposting with a bunch of wannabe vegans who are cucked by their own pork chops.

      A farmer may want to make sure the law lets him fist his steers or whatever the farmer lingo is, whilst holding a fancy turkey baster with cow batter for the oven, for money. For more cows.

      Kristi Noem, on the left, is the former Director of Homeland Security. She was behind a lot of the ICE bullshit, and was fired by Trump a few months back. She bragged in her book that she shot and killed her dog because she couldn’t train it.

      Kash Patel, on the left, is the current FBI Director. He’s terrible in every way. But the current news on him is about him changes in the FBI hiring process that include removal of automatic disqualification of those who had previously stolen from their employers or engaged in prostitution or beastiality.

    I read somewhere that the same provision that forbade bestiality also disqualifies people who have been found to have paid for sex three or more times in the last ten years. I think that what’s actually happening is that Patel, or a buddy of his, got caught hiring prostitutes a few too many times, and now want to repeal the rule so they don’t get kicked out.

    But someone saw ‘bestiality’ and decided to make it about that to distract people.

      Then they could have removed the prostitution clause and kept the bestiality one.
      Also he literally defended removing the latter in front of Congress.

      He was at a congressional hearing yesterday. I don’t know the context, I just saw the except where he explain the FBI hiring practices and a senator questioning why there are legal consequences for the animal in cases of bestiality.

      It gets so much worse than any comment can explain but an important detail that has not been brought up here yet is how Patel argued they had to protect individuals on both sides of beastiality. After being asked for clarification on that, he stated that he would not discriminate against his canine officers over that subject.

      The head of the FBI basically admitted to raping canine units in the FBI.
