politics @lemmy.world•NYU Demands Law Students Renounce Protests or Be Barred from Sitting Final ExamsEnglish
2·10 months agoMasks don’t really provide anonimity (you’d need to accompany with anti-IR glasses to protect yourself from iris scans, and probably prostethics for your face as well as your legs to avoid gait recognition from camera footage), and they do nothing if you are grabbed by an ICEtard.
But yeah in the overall, I don’t really see a problem with renouncing them “officially” (just strike an X on the signature, you can later claim that that was not your signature and was forced under duress) and participating on the protests anyway. It’s not like lawyers are expected to not lie and trick their way out of things under capitalism anyway, so perhaps the students (and the faculty) should consider this as an extra period test.

191·10 months agoWhat stops the students from renouncing the protests (under duress) and then just getting back into them once they have degrees?
Probably the fact that if the NYU staffers pushing this are any smart, they’ll withhold the degrees for a few weeks (maybe even months) after the exam or until the protests die down anyway. Sure, they’re bound to do something incredibly stupid right after, but they’ve got what they’ve got.

86·11 months agoYet the mob not only punishes for the former, but does it so instance-wide, needlessly tarnishing the reputation of normal users of the instance while the admins moderated that problem on their own.
Punishing people by transitivity only gets communities so far.

Like, what are they gonna do, arrest them? They’d be out in four hours and countersue for billions.
If you want a real solution, the French taught the One.
Host them in Canada or Mexico for extra kicks.

432·11 months agoSorry you probably won’t get to see Trump tied up and crowd surfed into a van to never be seen again but this is the process.
Sure, whatever process that works works. My point is I’m not seeing a process - I’m no seeing progress. Just complaining, which is something the elites can already and have always burrowed their heads in the sand at.

Okay, then how? Because from what I have seen pretty much every official in a position of civil service just resigns to let Trump do as he pleases, so there’s not much of a resistance. Who in civil service is supposed to unseat Trump? DOGE is certainly not gonna do it.

And they are doing what that is useful? The amount of people in any of these pictures could easily enter the White House and unseat Trump, yet here
wethey are, performativelizing.

Three statues. Look closely: the second one from the left is quite clearly a cat. You can tell because it looks more cartoony.
Human: “I’m in.”
Cat: “We’re in.”
