I do the same. I have a real domain and certbot does a dns challenge. It was a little fiddly and took a moment to figure out, i think that was because i couldn’t gat caddy to work, but traefik worked a charm. Self signing is more complex i think because you’ll need to accept the root in every client (browsers especially?), which is even more fiddly.

Things that I really like about Zen:
- New tab URL input, it’s a dialog overlay
- Tabs opening as the first instead of the last in the sidebar
- the tab sidebar
- opening external links is magic, they open in an overlay with the option to expand in a tab. This is probably my favourite, because often I need to open a link from an email, do one thing, then go back to the email. This feature keeps me in the context of what I was doing.

Asklemmy@lemmy.ml•what prank/petty revenge did you get away with?
41·8 months agoCorrect. I used to use the same key combo to switch virtual desktops on my Ubuntu install way back when and when on Windows my muscle memory would result in screen rotating all the time
Thanks 🙂 I don’t intend to use one of those canon sized ones, I was thinking a mini like you said. Just a little squirt should do the trick 😇
Working on that. Still would prefer cats to skip my garden though!
We’ve a lot of cats coming through the garden. I wouldn’t mind if not for my dog, who does and goes insane when she spots a cat. So I’ve been thinking about getting a super soaker to chase them away. I think that’s pretty harmless, and perhaps they learn to skip our garden after a while… What do you lot think?

World News@lemmy.world•Marine Le Pen banned from running for public office after guilty verdictEnglish
9·9 months agoOf course Le Pen’s reaction is that this is politically motivated. I’m not familiar with the ins and outs of this case, but am assuming the verdict is sound. Reactions like this are in my mind more serious than the actual offence; they undermine the rule of law. If found guilty in her appeal they should take this reaction into account and ban her from office forever.
They should implement some form of pgp into private posts so only folks with the right key can decrypt
I would greatly appreciate a bit more detail on your setup, is your calibre library simply a folder synced through next cloud?

Selfhosted@lemmy.world•Tailscale has messed up my internet connectionEnglish
2·10 months agoI had a similar issue with using tail scale, but here the issue was definitely not on the client. My actual DSL connection would reset, multiple times per day. Had the provider come 4 times to investigate the issue, got 3 new routers, they reinstalled the entry point to the house, and fixed an issue in the neighbourhood central point. All to no avail. I ended up purging everything tail scale and hand rolled wireguard. No more issues :/

Selfhosted@lemmy.world•Docker Hub limiting unauthenticated users to 10 pulls per hourEnglish
4·10 months agoHow? I was looking for this (although not very thoroughly)
[Edit] found it https://forgejo.org/docs/v1.21/user/packages/container/

I did this about a year ago, and started with tailscale. But for some bizarre reason, tailscale would cause my entire internet connection to drop. I had the internet provider come out 5 times to fix it, i got a new router twice, they even checked for cable problems between my house and the neighbourhood switch. All to no avail. I would lose internet connection several times a day until i would reboot my router. I then found someone on their forum mention that tailscale was causing problems, so i turned it off. The problems stopped. I found no way to mitigate this.
I ended up running wireguard, which works great for me, but does have a bit of a learning curve. I have rented a tiny cloud server which is the central hub, and all of my services run in podman with their own wireguard config. I run my own dns for the lacal domains. It took me a bit of effort, but is now running very stable.
