(Not that it stopped 45, I guess…)

Mine was also dental, so that checks out. My dream ended with a volcano for some reason.
A couple of times. This last time, I swore that I was conscious during the procedure and tried explaining it to the doctor when I woke up. I told him that I was sort of dreaming, and my brain was converting pain/pressure into stuff happening in the dream.
They didn’t seem to believe me, and honestly I don’t think I do either. I was really out of it when I woke up.
It’s basically Shakespeare
Mine do a little “brrrup?”
Is that universal?

Sometime between now and 2271!
Movies make it seem like it’s some magical land of partying and having life-changing experiences every week, but I think the average person just goes to class and goes home.
Yeah, otherwise it would be called “heavy”.
This isn’t uncommon now, and it’s sad. Social media algorithms pushing doom and gloom for clicks are scaring people out of living their lives.
The whole thing feels very similar to how Fox News scares old people for viewers, except maybe less intentional.
I see this all the time on social media, and it’s frustrating. I don’t want to dampen anyone’s passion for combating climate change (because I agree!), but it’s like a feedback loop for rhetoric that gets more and more extreme.
Something that starts out as:
“There was a wildfire in _____. This could be part of a larger trend related to climate change.”
Turns into:
“This fire was caused directly by climate change.”
Turns into:
“The world is on fire! Take shelter!”
Turns into:
“Don’t plan for the future. Don’t have children. Move somewhere cold and start prepping for the apocalypse.”
You can literally watch this same process happen with every issue that gets traction on social media or cable news. Then one side looks at the most extreme comments from the other side and easily dismisses the whole thing.
He’s not wrong. Groupthink elevates the most extreme rhetoric, and when people hear that, they disregard the totally valid argument as a whole.
If one person is saying “Hey, this could be bad for our coral reefs, polar bear populations, may cause more hurricanes over time, etc.” they’re going to be completely drowned out by the person saying “THIS IS THE END OF MODERN SOCIETY!” (paraphrased from an upvoted comment under this post)
I plan to bounce around anyway. The fediverse is great.
Make it cozy
Oh, I know. I was just saying that to tell them that their post helped another person.
Don’t mind me, just saving this comment too.
I think it’s a virtue to be the type of person that tries to preserve the past. Hold on to memories and the things that represent them, so that you can share it with others later.
Museums of all types are filled with things that people like you have saved.
Looks like we’re going to need some teenagers with attitude
(Edit: …either I unintentionally copied the post title or it was changed, but now I feel stupid. Haha)
Throwing old tires on stuff for protection instead of having some pricey specialized device is so stereotypically Russian that sounds like it’s from a movie.
