People are farting. They just know how to do it without making noise most of the time.

Asklemmy@lemmy.ml•Do you follow any youtubers that talk about film, tv, animation or vfx?
31·2 years agoPop Culture detective is really good. I especially like their video about Fantastic Beasts

Asklemmy@lemmy.ml•People Who Don't Wear Deodorant or Seemingly Bathe Regularly, Why?
412·2 years agoI don’t think you’re going to find anyone that admits to smelling bad. I assume people who smell bad do it because they don’t know that they smell, so they don’t try to change anything.

Programming@programming.dev•How do I convince my company to add tests for FE?
6·2 years agoShow them a working test that’s catching UI bugs. It’s hard to argue against facts.
Ooooh you wouldn’t believe how easy it is for some people to argue against facts.
🚫 Insulting the intelligence of the recipient by way of apology:
- “I’m sorry for not being more clear”
- “I’m sorry about being so misleading”
How are those insulting? Saying that I should have been more clear means I am the one who messed up by not communicating properly. Something like “sorry that you misunderstood” would be insulting since it places the blame on the recipient’s intelligence.

Asklemmy@lemmy.ml•What bugs the heck out of you at work but doesn't seem to bother your coworkers?
2·2 years agoYeah my job has that too. That system has a “remember me” button, but it doesn’t work.
Yes I am fully aware of that. My point was that programming is just like any other job unlike what the guy I responded to seems to think.
Sorry I typed this in a hurry. I just disagree with the statement and tried making a joke.
Maybe I’m biased since I recently started working as a software dev, but you don’t need to be really good to get a job as a programmer. I’m evidence of that.
For me it’s the smaller number of users. It is very likely that your comment will just end up at the bottom and nobody will see it if you comment on a reddit post with thousands of comments. If you comment on a Lemmy post with 25 comments or less it is way more likely to actually be seen by people.

Fediverse@lemmy.world•With all this talk about sync's pricing...English
5·2 years agoExactly, this is something I see people not talk about as much. Charging for API access is not new and actually reasonable. Handling API calls costs money after all. The issue was the intentionally ridiculous price.
but im probably dreaming too big
No you’re not. You underestimate yourself. There is not “too big” when it comes to having a hobby. You don’t need to prove anything, just do something you enjoy and that makes you feel good about yourself. The difficult part is getting out of the house, not the actual activity. I won’t recommend anything specific here because lots of people in this thread have already, and also the activity does not really matter, only that you do something that engages you.

World News@lemmy.world•Women in China are telling each other to bring their boyfriends to see 'Barbie' — and to use it as a litmus test for their thoughts on feminism and patriarchyEnglish
11·2 years agoPretty sure he decided what he was going to say before he even saw the movie. He can’t admit to liking any part of it becausee of his politics.
That does not mean air causes cancer if that’s what you are saying. Processed meat actually does.
The dose is the poison. Meat in the amount we consume today is unhealthy. In the past people didn’t eat meat every day or even close to it.
