Hi everyone,

I am the indie developer behind SoraSNS (a Fediverse and Bluesky client featured by Tech Crunch twice).

I just started working on a modern and futuristic styled Lemmy client. It will have a modern UI and equal features as the alien blue app.

Some features I am planning include:

  • all features like alien blue app (you know which app I am referring to)
  • a better notification interface so you can see the thread the message belongs to
  • auto translation feature
  • bookmark folders
  • folders to organized your subscribed communities
  • a discovery feed for most popular posts from your subscribed communities and followed persons
  • watch a post and receive notifications about new comments
  • scroll to switch to previous or next post in the list

The image I attached is obviously the build 0. The target release date is around the first week of May.

If you are interested, please subscribe to the community to receive updates and TestFlight: https://lemmy.world/c/remy https://lemmy.zip/c/remy

My other apps: SoraSNS for Mastodon Misskey Bluesky, with local ML powered For You timeline: https://apps.apple.com/us/app/sorasns-for-mastodon-bluesky/id6450969760

Thank you in advance!

Appreciate your work and support for the Fediverse although I personally don’t miss the AI-based recommendation algorithms from the big platforms. If you keep watching ‘your interests’ it also hardens your personal media bubble. I prefer ‘dumb’ algorithms like ‘most upvoted’, ‘most controversial’, ‘newest’ etc.

Got it! The initial release won’t have local ML recommendation algorithms. And I will think about making that an optional feature that requires opt-in. Thanks for your comment!

Sorry I meant like summarizing all the replies so you can quickly see different perspectives.

That’s fine, but most posts don’t get enough activity for need, I can get the vibe of all three comments with one glance.

Partially kidding, but I’ve never been overwhelmed by amount of lemmy comments like sometimes on other platforms, which I don’t use, where I might need tool like this.

Thanks for your comment! Based on the feedbacks I learned just minutes after posting I am not adding any AI features there.

Got it! But I guess based on the many comments about AI I will not add it in the first release.

Respectfully read the room, cramming any LLM in it is a no-install for me. I don’t need summaries, wouldn’t give 100MB or a CPU cycle for it.

Yeah I definitely learned that within just a short amount of time based on the huge number of downvotes initially! But I am so glad I learned it a month before I am going to release the app!
