I wonder who’s telling them the locations. By that I mean I wonder when Putin, Trump’s best friend now that Epstein is dead, told Iran where the cables are.

Frankly im absolutely fucking baffled no ones tried this before. It seems like such a no brainer way to cause actual damage and problems. I dislike that someone has finally thought about it tho.

The unsettling part isn’t that tankers are lingering over cables. It’s that nobody can easily distinguish a ship having a very boring afternoon from one preparing to disconnect entire countries. Apparently the global Internet now depends on whether a tanker captain feels like dropping anchor.

I imagine there would be divers and explosive charges being placed for these types of operations, but anchors are still a very real risk

An anchor is a cheap way and gives everyone a wonderfully convenient excuse: »Oops, maritime accident.« The cable ends up broken either way, and proving intent becomes almost as difficult as repairing it.

An anchor has someone present to point fingers at. A charge detonation at a random time when nobody is around has only really got some accusations that can be denied
