We all understand that ALL of our problems are outgrowths of nearly uncontrolled Capitalism, which has led to America being in last place among industrialized nations in almost every metric.
Then we look at Scandinavian nations, where everyone is happy and good looking, and see that they live under Democratic Socialism, which puts those countries at the front of the pack in nearly all metrics.
The shock isn’t that 40% have accepted that Democratic Socialism is obviously a better choice, it’s that it isn’t 90%.
It’s astonishing the number of Americans I’ve debated that claim they prefer their higher wage, despite when the bills are paid, they don’t have more. And they have far from the same quality of public services and benefits, and they live in a society of violence and uncertainty.
Also being paid more is exclusively a privilege of about a 10% minority, so chances are most Americans that make this claim, would actually be paid more here in Denmark.
Americans think they have more freedom, but most Americans that move here, find out that in reality they have way more freedom in a Scandinavian country. Freedom in USA is to a large degree a myth. And the propaganda of it is mostly when compared to the Soviet Union.
We have a saying about avoiding American Conditions, or it’s like in America, meaning it’s very bad. American society is far from the golden standard many Americans are indoctrinated to believe. On the contrary USA serves as a warning about what to avoid as a society.
