The compression one is a great learning project IMHO. I did it long ago as a teenager. Should get them playing with File IO, iterating over buffers to create new buffers, managing some slightly more advanced data structures like stacks.

And testing it is fairly straight forward. Whatever you compress should come back when you decompress.

That’s more the standard library rather than the language I’d say, and the next set of changes looks more “additional” rather than “reworking” (unlike the last set).

I’m surprised there isn’t cross party support for Ukraine in Canada. You have a similar system to us in the UK. Here the only party that doesn’t support Ukraine is Reform, the Kremlin mouthpiece party who only have 4 MPs.

So the US just released a foreign policy document that says that the emergence of nationalist parties across Europe is cause for hope and to be supported in order to help Europe realign with the US.

That’s a plan for undermining the governments of the EU and instigating regime change. US social media is their tool of choice. It needs to be shut down. Yes, people might clamour for an alternative, but they can have them. They just need to not be controlled by the US oligarchy.

Sounds like your father has been exploited by this woman. He’s somebody who’s made bad decisions…yes, but he’s also a victim.

Is it just me that finds the term “forever chemical” completely meaningless? I have no idea what is trying to be conveyed except something fear inducing.

The problem is PRs / CI tooling. They treat a repo as an independent project, but…:

• A change needs to be able to span multiple repos
• …or you need a way of expressing dependencies between changes in multiple repos
• …and you need to be able to block changes to dependencies that should be non-breaking but aren’t.

Zuul CI solved a lot of these kind of problems for the Openstack project but I’ve personally found it a bitch to setup. Lots of good ideas in it though.

The problem I have with your description is that it abdicates responsibility for what eventually gets generated with a big shrug and “we don’t fully understand why”.

The choice of training data is key to how the final model operates. All sorts of depraved material must be being used as part of the training set, otherwise the model wouldn’t be able to generate the text it does (even if it’s being coached).

It’s clear the “AI race” is all about who gets the power of owning, and therefore influencing, everybody’s information stream. If they couldn’t influence it, there wouldn’t be such a race.
