Lemmy Shitpost@lemmy.world•Choose wisely: Chocolate that taste like shit or Shit that taste like chocolate

Asklemmy@lemmy.ml•I'm new to lemmy, came from reddit. What's the lemmy etiquette like? How different is it from reddiqutte?
4·14 days agoThey said theyre trustworthy, which in my experience would generally be true in Japan. You probably wont get shot in the head for your skin color, which may not seem like much but we are living in strange times.

Not sure the country you are referring to exists. Maybe Japan?

Lemmy Shitpost@lemmy.world•The ancient Greeks or Chinese should have already had words for this.
1·19 days agoExcept they arent. There are multiple clinical studies on this.

Would this be considered whitewashing though? From my understanding whitewashing is a practice that “hides” diversity, while in this case the goal would be to get rid of the racist background. Also, the goal would be to change the tradition itself, not simply leaving Zwarte Piet as a black man represented by white people, right?
I am reading those kinds of comments as playfully mocking, especially when the followup is so obviously exaggerated. Wouldnt mind someone using it on me. Im not a native English speaker though so maybe Im just ignorant of the real implicated meaning.

Asklemmy@lemmy.ml•Is it true that letting your phone charge to 100% is bad?
1·30 days agoI dont particularly watch out for charging before 20, most of the time I just charge it whenever, between 30 and 50 most of the time. Also most phones have a notification when going below 20. Its limiting, yes, but no need for micromanaging if you dont want to.
Anyway, everyone can do what feels right for them.

Asklemmy@lemmy.ml•Is it true that letting your phone charge to 100% is bad?
1·1 month agoMost phones should have a setting to stop charging at 80%. My last 3 phones did at least.
Nobody knows what magnets are. Except this guy.
So if monarchs would have succeeded in suppressing democracy until today (not very far fetched by the way), that would be proof of Democracy being a bad system?
Think about what youre even saying.
What is this bullshit argument?
Your argument.
What is this bullshit argument? If a lightbulb stops working after 10 years, is it as useless as a lightbulb that breaks after 10 minutes?
Did I write they have to be impossible to overturn?
Why are you implying that real communism would be easily overturned? Its never been implemented.
So just to be clear, there doesnt currently exist a political system that works, as they all have been overturned multiple times?
A political and economic system is not some random piece of infrastructure, like a solar panel.
And its also not a magic potion.
A padlock that can’t hinder an intruder is a bad padlock.
A political and economic system is not some random
piece of infrastructureobject, like asolar panelpadlock.Youre saying a political system can only work if there is not a single aspect that can be taken advantage of? Thats equivalent to every single person being controlled 100% in their actions. If thats your idea of ideal, sure. I guess some people currently being in leading positions would agree with you.
The US is currently in the middle of a fascist takeover, while being a Democracy (in the past at least). Are you saying Democracy is not a political system worth pursuing because it doesnt work?
This is like saying the idea of solar panels is bad because capitalists work against them to destroy their reputation. Judging a system based on the assumption that theres someone else trying to destroy it is very simple minded.
How would that obviously be the case? I work with numbers a lot and immediately knew 550/2 = 275, didnt need to think for the fraction of a second. The systems are not equal across different people, every mind is unique.
Small example: Would you consider 10/2 = 5 system 2? I think most people wouldnt, but ask a 1st grader and they would probably need to think for a few seconds.
