Do they speak Spanish? The English version of them make no effort to learn to speak Spanish, or integrate outside their own communities, then make videos about people doing that who go to England.

Someone you could trust your life with if need be?81·22 days agoHaving actually been rushed to hospital when I was a kid by my friends after a big accident on my bike I would say the number is higher than you might think. They even walked by bike back home, which considering it was miles from home was pretty mad for teenagers.
I would say at least 20 people I know who are close to me either have done something I would consider above and beyond for me already or I know for sure would do so. Thats not counting any relatives.

When I have a set of tools I prefer that they are coloured differently as it helps identify different sizes without having to read labels once you worked with them for a bit. I am particularly partial to Swiss Tools rainbow sets for this reason.
Obviously if you are only using the tool once in a blue moon then you really do not need to spend big money on it, but if you are spending more can get you a significantly better tool, so it might as well look cool in the process.
Even things like screwdrivers a better quality one like Vessels Megadora range cam out a lot less than the cheapest supermarket screwdrivers so you have less frustration with stripping screw heads. Plus they are A LOT more comfy to use all day.
Power tools I am on the DeWalt batteries, so cordless I stick with DeWalt. Anything corded or hand powered I buy whatever is best bang for my buck, but if its reasonably close I will stick with DeWalt where I can.
All my storage boxes are either Stanley or DeWalt as its the same system and same colours. I like my storage to match as much as possible as I have a lot of it and it looks better matching. Even the foam in my storage is black and yellow, lol.

No brand is going to be perfect but some are clearly going to be lower risk than randoms from aliexpress. Its as much to do with reliability, achievable duty cycle (rather than promises of duty cycle), support (especially how easy it is to get a replacement under warranty), how long they will push firmware updates for, than just security trustworthiness.
Pretty much any device is going to have a vulnerability or potential for a back door at some point but the company being transparent about the issue and fixing it promptly is worth a lot. Its the same reason I would have a Google or (premium) Samsung phone, I trust that they will support the phone for the time period they say they will, something I would not do with say Oneplus based on my past experience of them.
I buy electronics from aliexpress all the time, but nothing I rely on day to day like a router, simply because I am shit out of luck getting it replaced quickly if it goes wrong, even if I want to get a replacement. I have a cheap mikrotik hex I keep as a backup of a backup (my APs are my primary backup for my router), and this is fine for a week or so but I would not want to be out a month or more with it.
I guess you could plan in proper redundancy as I have, or may be you can afford a an outage, so may be you don’t need that. If I cannot work, I cannot earn, so I have backup internet, routers, wifi etc. planned into my install.
I think what someone else wrote about defense is depth is the real key here. I have my network divided into separate VLANs that are firewalled off from each other, so one for IoT, one for cameras, one for my TVs and other screens, one for my devices. This means if something is compromised they still have to get across the network and it simplifies my firewall rules as I am applying them to subnets rather than individual devices in a self maintained group. It makes it easier to say block external DNS queries and redirect to my pihole for my IoT and TVs but not my personal devices as I would have a good reason to go external.
May be you do not have a lot of devices, I realize I am nearer the upper end of a home network with over 50 active devices and it will be over kill if you only have a laptop and a phone on your network.
Power Trip, with Riley on vocals when they played Bloodstock early Sunday morning, way before lunch. Was a fan of their Nightmare Logic album so I was going whatever was happening, but as they played their set the crowd just kept growing, and would rival a lot of early evening bands. For the last day of the festival, in the morning.
They gave everything for the performance and when I met them afterwards they were just completely wasted having flown over and more or less gone straight on stage.

This is another example of him going back on his meds and realizing he just made it harder for himself to earn money, again. His mom was someone who actually tried to look after him and make sure he took his meds, rather than trying to bilk him for every penny.

It gets worse as the horse was part of a herd that came with the ranches he purchased to smush into a mega ranch. He wanted rid of the horses as they cost a fair bit to keep, so he was literally giving away something that saved him money and cost them.

tankplanker@lemmy.worldto Programming@programming.dev•Do you use a macro keyboard for shortcuts? If so, what for and what size?1·2 months agoFrom scratch? Or a kit?
I’ve never tried a wireless keyboard (despiteowningmore than 50), still waiting on my Pearl three years after I ordered it lol, that would have been my first.
All my splits are cabled, so it’s no issue for me.
Another option is home row layer keys, duplicating the layer options in pairs so a and h, s and j, and so on so you have the same layer from each side.
Smaller boards I use home row mods (control, super, and so on), and that works extremely well for me.

tankplanker@lemmy.worldto Programming@programming.dev•Do you use a macro keyboard for shortcuts? If so, what for and what size?2·2 months agoI have a large selection, but I rarely use them for anything other than media keys and teams call functions. Other stuff like windows management in sway are all done on higher layers on my (40%) keyboard.
My preference is for something with at least one knob as knobs are my preference for things like scrolling, volume control, and zoom.
If you can find latching switches, these are great for triggering layers so you can get more out of your pad. You can obviously do latching layer changes without such switches in QMK, but you really need to trigger leds to help you remember which layer you on otherwise.
Pad I use the most is a CapsUnlocked CU7 that I got just before they imploded as I love the weight of the knob.
tankplanker@lemmy.worldto Programming@programming.dev•Do you use a macro keyboard for shortcuts? If so, what for and what size?2·2 months agoDo you mean keys thst you hold down with your thumb while your fingers are on the home row or something else? For the former, I use split space keyboards and map the left one to enter on press, layer on hold, the right one to space on press, and a different layer on hold. That gives me more keys that you would get on a 70+ keyboard. I find this considerably easier than trying to use pinkies on shift and symbols on what is my top row, qwerty row.
Typically, I map tab and the traditional enter key to tab on press, another layer, and backspace with the same layer as tab. This layer I use for window management in sway for home row and anything else I am missing that I really want.

This rarely works as fans of the books want the book adapted not something new and different badged as coming from the book.
Second problem is that Neuromancer was very much of its time, much of its concepts have become standard tropes now across the genre and even in everyday life. This greatly limits its impact to audiences new to Neuromancer as they have seen it all before.
I will give it a go but I am not holding out much hope.

Once you have a list of shops that you trust it’s easy to go shopping.
This is partly due to my body shape being an athletic build. Buying online from stores that list the actual clothing measurements means I can choose stuff that actually fits me properly. IRL near me just has generic sizing that is either too tight across the shoulders or far too long.
I spend above average on clothing, your generic brands even online don’t offer actual clothing measurements, but then I would rather have a smaller number of items that are good quality and fit rather than be wasteful with disposable fast fashion thst doesn’t last and doesn’t fit.
