I remember seeing a faded, sun bleached poster of this on the wall of our guidance counsellor’s office and thinking, those animals look so adorable. Didn’t make me want to smoke but also didn’t make me not want to.

Unfortunately I forgot the one I was going to share but knowing me it was likely some silly cover of a video game song or such.
strawberrysocial@lemmy.worldto World News@lemmy.world•'We are all Gisèle': French women rise up against 'rape culture' during Gisèle Pelicot trialEnglish12·4 months agoThat’s true and a good viewpoint. I guess I was just in a bad head space at the time of my commenting from what I have experienced myself and maybe taking it out on you. I apologize for that.
strawberrysocial@lemmy.worldto World News@lemmy.world•'We are all Gisèle': French women rise up against 'rape culture' during Gisèle Pelicot trialEnglish11·4 months agoNo I was never banned. I am not chronically online. I don’t use an app for this website. I sign in on a browser, coming back every couple months, and might look at and respond to my messages if I feel like it. That’s not that abnormal. And I don’t take it as an insult that you seem think it is? Very odd. Sorry you are offended. I hope you have a good morning or evening depending what part of the planet you are currently on.

You are accusing me of the very thing you are guilty of too. Maybe we can at least agree its awful to be raped by people?

strawberrysocial@lemmy.worldto World News@lemmy.world•'We are all Gisèle': French women rise up against 'rape culture' during Gisèle Pelicot trialEnglish315·7 months agoShe was likely raped (by a male, perhaps her father?) much like you were by your mother. It’s very callous to refer to her as a bitch because a sign. Women aren’t attending these protests because they find them fun. They are victims like you.

strawberrysocial@lemmy.worldto World News@lemmy.world•'We are all Gisèle': French women rise up against 'rape culture' during Gisèle Pelicot trialEnglish102·7 months agoSince you are in a thread that’s about a women who has been victimized for 10 years by her own husband who she trusted and believed loved her, and raped by 50 plus men at his hand, I want to say, that many, many females also don’t come forward because they know they won’t be believed. They will also be perceived as weak, or whatever excuse rape apologists give. They asked for it. They dressed like a slut. They were walking too late at night alone. They drank too much and passed out which made them fair game.
It happened to my sister, my brother, my mother, my friends, it’s happened to me, it’s happened to about 13 other females off the top of my head that I know throughout my life.
It isn’t only because a male will be perceived as gay that they don’t come forward. That’s a byproduct of homophobia. They don’t come forward for many of the same reasons females don’t come forward. They believe it’s their fault., and they don’t think other people will believe them. And also possibly they want to try to forget it ever happened, because it’s so traumatic.
It’s because other people don’t want to see the truth, and that truth is that human beings are for the most part garbage. We want to pretend this awful crap doesn’t happen on a regular basis but it does. It’s not an outlier or abnormal, it’s a fact of life for nearly most women and some men. It would be nice if no one could experience this.
You got a whole menagerie! Sorry about your chicken and goose loss.
I see what you are saying, but maybe you’re looking at it from an animal perspective instead of a plant one. They could have consciousness in their own way that’s not similar to ours, so we think they are “brainless” or not aware of what’s going on. I’m not a scientist but I do wonder about plants. They are living creatures.

strawberrysocial@lemmy.worldto World News@lemmy.world•'We are all Gisèle': French women rise up against 'rape culture' during Gisèle Pelicot trialEnglish33·7 months agoHonestly I’m also confused by your reply. How is a woman going to court because she’s been raped by 50+ strangers demonizing men? I’m asking questions, not from stupidity, but because you aren’t making sense.
strawberrysocial@lemmy.worldto World News@lemmy.world•'We are all Gisèle': French women rise up against 'rape culture' during Gisèle Pelicot trialEnglish23·7 months agoNo I’m genuinely confused by what you said. The only other side, is the multiple rapists in the article. There is the victim, and then the people who raped her. Which “other side” are you referring to? Are you

I think the problem isn’t that we eat meat. It’s that we torture the animals and have them live in deplorable conditions before we eat them. If we all hunted or raised our own animals or had the animals live in decent conditions it would be less of an issue for most REASONABLE vegans and vegetarians. I used to be vegan and vegetarian a decade so I get it a bit. I hated it when anyone would bitch about other people’s food choices, but then complain when they did the same to them for their food choices. Both sides I mean. I had some non-veggies once they found out I didn’t eat meat would attack me for it. When I did start eating meat again some vegans and vegetarians would attack me for it.
