He already did this. 8 years ago. I mean it could have been a lot worse if he were competent but it was already horrible.

Had a 240v 50 amp circuit and a NEMA 14-50 plug installed by an electrician (you could probably do it yourself if you are handy but it’s a potential fire hazard so I wanted a professional to do it). Bought an EVSE, plugged in, and never looked back. I am never buying an ICE car again. There are federal and local tax rebates to install an EVSE in your home.

Blaming ‘the economy’ or ‘the left-behinds’ won’t cut it English5·5 months agoYou’re not wrong but people are fucking dumb. It just means we’re all going to get kicked in the nuts now while my ass is still hurting.

It’s cute that you think we have a chance to do better. That opportunity was this time and we (doesn’t really matter who the we refers to) blew it. rustydomino@lemmy.worldto Fediverse@lemmy.world•Federated social media from before it was coolEnglish3·6 months agoI’m not technical enough to think it through carefully but I’ve always thought there was an opportunity for an organization like USPS to develop email 2.0 - something that gives people some kind of verifiable and secure email address so that users can easily find each other whilst filtering out spam (or to have spam taken into consideration in the design at the outset). You would design it based on strict standards that would be difficult to get around so that big tech could not easily co-opt it, and adopt for some kind of critical function (taxes, voting maybe?) so that it would encourage adoption en masse. Make it distributed so that users can selfhost it easily, safely, and securely.

As a matter of policy I don’t answer calls from numbers not in my contacts. If it’s important they’ll leave a voicemail.
