11·8 months agoYears ago, I tried out Jellyfin (Emby at the time) and it couldn’t do chromecasting with subtitles (probably fixed by now, this was a long time ago). Since I wanted to watch anime, I bought a Plex lifetime subscription instead, and I’m too lazy to switch.

2·8 months agoAnd now they have all the big tech players on board! YouTube, Facebook, Instagram, and X (of course) are all happy to algorithmically lift far-right content, and let right-wing bots comment on anything to sculpt narratives.
We are fucked. I’ve tried talking to some of these people, and they live in an alternative reality. Discussing facts is questioning their reality, and it puts them hard on the defensive.
“The pen is mightier than the sword” and they have all the pens.

31·8 months agoNo he didn’t. He won a plurality of votes, not the majority. “He won the popular vote” and “he has the people’s mandate” are popular right-wing talking points.

Seems like they could just ratchet up the tax on short term rentals. Additional tax for non-owner occupied, additional tax for owning more than one, additional tax for corporate owned. Start with a modest rate, announce that the rate will be going up in a year to give people the chance to sell if they want, then slam the gas on it
