I’m sure in casual settings they probably eat it more like an American, but honestly it doesn’t seem like the worst idea with assistance from the knife, especially factoring in the history of the fork. I gotta give it a try sometime.

I didn’t reply to this, but part of the reason why people type Reddit after a search is because more often than not it will yield the most useful results. This comes from the age and userbase size of Reddit. If you tried to do this with Lemmy odds are a good amount of the time you’ll end up without results or with less relevant results than from Reddit.

Same here, but with stuff like rice I definitely have to do a decent amount of plate scraping, especially towards the end. It didn’t take, but growing up my mom always told me to just use my knife to get the food on the fork when I was finishing my plate. I will say from my research (which could be biased more towards formal eating) the way they eat mashed potatoes is a bit wild to me. Keep the fork in the same position as when you’re cutting meat and push them onto the convex side of the fork. For informal eating with something like rice it was fork left hand, but more of an American style of holding the fork. It does make some sense though. Apparently forks used to be straight and the curve was added so that you wouldn’t poke the roof of your mouth so holding the fork curving downwards helps avoid that.
I feel like the American style is very much catered towards the culture of tv dinners and convenience around food. At the end of the day it’s all just variations in how we decided to do a task across cultures that get the job done one way or another. With Asia we see the use of chopsticks, in India they use their hands for a lot of foods with a refined technique to push the food from the fingers into the mouth so you’re not just shoving your hand in your mouth, in Ethiopian cuisine they use a special bread to pick up and eat the food. As long as the food is tasty and ends up in your mouth it’s not too much different than something like driving on a different side of the road or different plug designs. There may be some downsides/upsides to one or the other, but at the end of the day it’s just a different path to solve a universal problem.

I did some research and it seems like they do use their left hand, but additionally they tend to always use a knife to assist with getting things on the fork. While for things like rice I see some benefits to the American system, the European system makes a lot of sense for something like steak where you may not want to cut the whole thing before you start eating. I often find myself compromising and precutting more than I want to when I’m eating steak since I change hands.
The whole concept of dominant vs non dominant hand can be over emphasized. For example when it comes to guitar the dominant hand typically handles strumming, but the non dominant hand is responsible for the complicated task of fretting. Using the “non-dominant” hand for a task isn’t necessarily relegating it to a lesser status. It’s often just a matter of practicality and if you grow up doing something a certain way you’ll develop dexterity and be perfectly comfortable using your “non-dominant” hand.

They do that. They just don’t switch hands to eat.

Got it. I mean one thing about Reddit isn’t necessarily that it shows up in search results, but that people will go out of their way to append it to a search in order to get better results.

Weren’t they pretty straight up saying it was a microcode issue with a patch coming out? Affecting 65 watt+ CPUs which also wasn’t in the limelight since only the high end i7/i9 CPUs were seeing significant failures being reported. I’d imagine a mini PC would be pretty safe.
There’s a pretty big difference between being a billionaire and having a relationship. At the end of the day pursuing or discovering interests with a social aspect will result in making friends and here and there you’ll click with someone romantically. At the end of the day even if you’re lacking socially, it’s a learned skill and when there’s shared interest people will look over some things while you learn. As long as you put in the work to learn, you’ll improve.

To be fair though there wasn’t a say then since nobody else actually ran. I’m obviously just one person, but my take is that the DNC pushed Biden too hard and I’d much rather have a younger option since we’ll likely end up with the same policy over the next four years as if Biden was elected, but we’ll have someone more likely to beat Trump and show that the DNC values public opinion.

What if it was only cooked to 130 or 140? Are they supposed to ask and trust everyone what temperature their lunch was cooked to?

Definitely agree. Although I will add that Israel has likely played a large part in radicalizing many members of Hamas and their actions in Palestine have dwarfed the initial Hamas attack, no atrocity should go unpunished.
Glad to be of service. Let me know how it turns out if you end up making it!
One omnivore to another, try making beans this way. Get a regular sized can of beans (I usually use black beans) and drain out the liquid. You can use a colander or just pop open the lid a bit and put it upside down in the sink. Sautee half an onion diced up (or a whole onion if you really like them) in a splash of olive oil. Once it’s soft and getting a bit translucent chop up a clove or two of garlic and a chipotle pepper (get a small can of them in adobo sauce). Add them in and stir until you get some fragrance off them. From there add the beans and stir everything together right away until the onion is mixed in (and garlic with, don’t want to let the garlic burn). From there you can add in salt, pepper, and cumin. I also like to add oregano and if you’re feeling it you can add garlic powder and/or chili powder. From there you add some tomato sauce. For a standard size can I’ll usually use half. Basically add it to taste and feel since it tempers the spice and also makes it so the dish isn’t dry. From there I stir it all together and let the tomato sauce reduce stirring occasionally until I think it looks done or I’m hungry.
I love me a steak, but combined with some rice cooked with some sazon Goya I can live off these beans.

It’s actually 2 tons for evs specifically to account for that.

This isn’t usually the cause. If the cable isn’t inserting fully then yes it can be dust and that often helps the problem, but the retention mechanism itself wears out over time leading to the cable slipping out easily and depending on the design things can get wobbly. I work with electronics for a living and with laptops more often than not it’s the latter category with dust not being too common of an issue since they aren’t kept in pockets. Phones on the other hand it’s usually dust, but I don’t interact with many USB C phones old enough for wear to be an issue.
Wouldn’t the libertarians take more votes from the Republicans than the Dems?
