Why do you think so? There are enough western analysts who stress the strategic importance of Ukraine for Russian security.

I am not comparing. I am asking how Russia can be safe. OP asked about imperial reasons.

After Congo, Iran and Chile, let’s not pretend that they were fighting for democracy.

I don’t understand the joke.
Russia is not USSR. What did India do? What did Iran do that is among the worst atrocities against humanity? If they didn’t commit atrocities then what’s the argument?

Or are we talking about a different Syria here?
Are we? https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/US_intervention_in_the_Syrian_civil_war

If you sum up death and influence, you are making a pro Russian argument. But I wasn’t making a moral argument. OP asked for imperialist reasons. If the US doesn’t honor UN law and isn’t made so by its allies and the other powerful nations, which other options does Russia have to be safe?

Look at what the west does to Iraq, Libya, Syria and other countries. How can Russia be safe if the US don’t continue arm restriction treaties and develop space weapons against MAD?

Have you thought about restarting it here?

Reverse it:
What’s the worst for meth addicts? Tolerance.

According to the commission, the new free trade area between the EU and Mercosur states with more than 700 million people would be the largest of its kind in the world.
This is an attempted and failed rebellion against the US and the post is barely seen.

it’s Trump
For an Alzheimer guy he is executing quite elaborate plans. The problem is that we reset every day and blame Trump anew. By now we should know the names of the top planners and advisers and their goals.

I could literally live on plain potatoes for the rest of my life and I’d be fine with it.
You wouldn’t and life would be short. There are not all nutritions in potatoes.
I’m not personally yet seeing signs that the logic of MAD is failing
Reagan called for a system that would end MAD and render nuclear weapons obsolete.[2] Elements of the program reemerged in 2019 under the Space Development Agency (SDA).

Add to that the thoughts behind tactical nukes.
We are witnessing the death throes of a wounded animal with suicidally inflated ego.
Unfortunately, this wounded animal also has nuclear weapons, so it’s a very dangerous time for all of us.
So we agree on what is going to happen?

The US must have been thinking about China at least since 1990. Now they fumble the hardest when they need to be the wittiest?
I don’t buy it. The US are preparing to contain China. At best they have AI and robotics first and retake global productions. But I expect a war. Edit: And unless the USA lose, the empire will remain for a long time.
It’s difficult to say what the winner will do with a most likely radioactive world. I would expect that there is no need for disinformation, especially if robots do the policing. So those people who survive will have a physical constrained, but intellectually rich life.
However, without AI and destroyed knowledge from bombing the civilization centers, technology could also fall back to the 1960s or even 1860s, but with internet.

literally
approved a bill to allow U.S. military bases on Danish soil

After all those years upholding the embargo on Cuba it finally pays off.

The tanks and howitzers are not at Bucharest and they can’t drive 200 km/h.
Like SDI, Starshield destroys MAD.
To control China it would be very helpful to control Russia.
