jack@monero.townto Programming@programming.dev•Amber - the programming language compiled to Bash22·1 year agoYes, there was the bourne sh on Unix but I don’t see how that’s relevant here. We’re talking about operating systems in use. Please explain the downvotes
jack@monero.townto Programming@programming.dev•Amber - the programming language compiled to Bash413·1 year agoThere is no sh shell. /bin/sh is just a symlink to bash or dash or zsh etc.
But yes, the question is valid why it compiles specifically to bash and not something posix-compliant
That’s not Ross, that’s David Schwimmer

Have we as a society abandoned it?2·1 year agoNo, not in the context of “you’re welcome”. Wilkommen is only used for saying e.g. “welcome home”

Have we as a society abandoned it?5·1 year agoIn German, “you’re welcome” means “gern geschehen” which can be translated back to “I did it gladly”. So yea, I also think YW is very positive

I’d like to know, too. The answer is probably to get to know A LOT more people so you higher your chances to find someone compatible.
jack@monero.townto Asklemmy@lemmy.ml•Your journey with Lemmy: When and why did you join? When did you leave and come back? Are you finally settled?2·1 year agoServers are fine, but your identity shouldn’t depend on a single one. On Nostr for example, servers are just there to relay the content to other peers. The servers are interchangeable and you don’t depend on any of them.
Sadly, Nostr doesn’t have good content and is kinda overrun by crypto bros.
jack@monero.townto Asklemmy@lemmy.ml•Your journey with Lemmy: When and why did you join? When did you leave and come back? Are you finally settled?7·1 year agoThe thing that I dislike about lemmy is that we all share a boat (instance) with a lot of other people. If the boat owners drill holes into the boat (defederate with instances) we all sink.
I’d like to settle on a platform that scales better and gives more reliability (no dependence on instance admins).
But lemmy is fine for now.
