  • Personally, I sometimes ponder if this is a part of The Great Filter. We have evolved to survive under constant threats in harsh environments, so when those dangers and threats are removed we don’t know how to handle it. We start to perceive minor things as bigger problems. I wonder if this is part of what we need to learn to deal with before we can live peacefully with our neighbours and nature.

This is funny, but would be more accurate if it said “MAGA Christians” instead of “White Christians”.

I’m an atheist and most of the Christians I know are pretty accepting. It’s almost as if they respect the teachings of Jesus and aspire to be more like him, unlike all too many MAGA Christians.

  • Exactly. FUD is what the opposition use to keep the revolution from happening, to prevent those who want to see change from believing it will work.

And as for accepting others, that’s another big hurdle to overcome. People need to put aside their differences to work towards a common goal, and for that there needs to be organised energetic leadership. Something else that the opposition tries to prevent.

I’ve been boycotting Amazon (UK) for a few years now. It’s not easy! Sometimes it doesn’t take much longer to source items, but other times it takes way longer. I have limits though, and occasionally I end up caving-in and just using Amazon, but it’s getting rarer all the time. Now I use them once or twice per year. I tried using onbuy for a while, but we got a couple of faulty items from them and their support completely ignored me, so I stopped using them. Generally, here are some of my most common alternatives:

general stuff and gifts: Argos, ebay, etsy
    tech: overclockers, ebuyer, scan.co.uk
electronics: John Lewis, AO, Richer Sounds
    books/dvds: hive.co.uk, Waterstones, WH Smith
    pharma: boots, simpleonlinepharmacy, well
household: Robert Dyas, Dunelm, John Lewis
    pets: zooplus
    spare parts: buyspares.co.uk

And for a wishlist alternative I use wishlist.com. (edited to fix formatting)
