Legit though. I got my finger slammed in the car door but luckily it didn’t lock like that. I could see bone. Even theoretical, thinking about the door locking makes me panic a bit.

It helps if you organize every problem into 3 steps: 1) what is the given info from the problem? 2) what core equations are we using? 3) how do we use #1 and #2 to solve the problem?
Your notes show these steps but if you can organize it well enough that it’s easy to understand just by looking at the blackboard, that will make everything smoother. Write the given info as bullet points. You’re using S=VT as the core equation, so underline it and write out what each letter stands for. From there, write each step vertically.

Saw them in-person and realized that they have quite a few toxic traits from one of our narcissistic parents. I don’t know what to do now. I’m pretty traumatized from that parent and my sibling doesn’t see any of it as a negative. I don’t think I have the ability to open their eyes on it, either. I want the relationship I thought we had.

Not by default, but if you cut life short then you can’t find the things that make it “worth it” in the end. And those things, the ones that make it so freaking worth it, they’re out there. They’re rich and beautiful and sometimes deceivingly simple.
I’ve been in a “not worth it” place before. The possibility of a “worth it” place was so foreign I don’t remember even thinking about the future. I’m in a “worth it” place now. I know it may not be permanent but I hope that I can at least help others make their lives worth it if not always my own.

YES. Main characters don’t have chemistry and a romance adds nothing? Let them be, it doesn’t have to be forced.
I love it when movies show deep friendships between men/women that don’t inevitably become a romance. Not every situation is Harry met Sally and it’s okay to have fulfilling, close relationships with people in your romantic orientation.

cabbagee@sopuli.xyzto Asklemmy@lemmy.ml•Americans, how would you feel about making student loans completely illegal?141·2 years agoThis only works if the product isn’t in demand. Degrees are in high demand - jobs require them, better jobs require multiple and higher prestige degrees. That isn’t going to change.
Instead those rich enough would still get a degree, but middle and lower classes would be cut out. In the end it would create a wider gap between the classes.

cabbagee@sopuli.xyzto Asklemmy@lemmy.ml•disinfectant has a poignant sme but is that bad when food is involved10·2 years agoExactly. If you can smell it, then there’s molecules in the air and that’s going to mean it’s also on the food. It’s completely insignificant though. Eating next to a dumpster doesn’t mean my food’s contaminated even though technically those same molecules that I’m smelling are getting on the food.
Living a life well-lived vs feeling like you’ve lived a life well-lived are two different things. The first… be a good person, treat others and yourself with kindness, try to leave the world a little better than it would have been without you.
Feeling like you’ve lived a life well-lived though, that’s different for everyone. In the Sims games there are Lifetime Wishes. One wish to accomplish over that Sim’s entire life. I think real life is similar - everyone has a lifetime wish that once accomplished will fill a hole and help them be more at peace with dying. I got lucky, mine was easy. I wanted to help someone in a way that positively impacted the rest of their life. When I discovered that I had accidentally done that for a friend, the effect was amazing. I felt spiritually whole and like I was done doing what I was put on this earth for. I’m not religious, btw. I’m still living so I’m going to keep doing my best… but now I feel like my life has been well lived.
I don’t think the answer is so clear for everyone. My spouse doesn’t know their “lifetime wish”. Maybe it’ll be revealed with time or maybe they’ll never consciously know. I don’t think it’s something you get to choose, either. If you ask yourself what’s the one thing you absolutely need to do to be at peace before you die then you may figure it out eventually.
Dissatisfaction is a good thing. It’s the fuel that pushes you to do something. Maybe it’s something big like switching careers or cutting ties with toxic relationships, but most often it’s small things like picking up a new hobby, volunteering, or taking a vacation.
Don’t dismiss dissatisfaction. Look into your life and see what you need to change.
