Yeah, I get that. This one store has remained in its early-2000s renovation layout while all the other nearby locations of its size went the opposite direction and became Neighborhood Markets and only sell food. That’s what has me baffled by it.

The Walmart in my town is weird as fuck because it barely has any food in it. Like MAYBE 10% of their floorspace is foodstuffs. And it used to be okay because there was an employee-owned grocery store in town. Well, that grocery store chain apparently got bought out recently, and not only are they raising their prices faster than Walmart, they also can’t keep the shelves stocked because the people doing the ordering don’t work in the stores. I’m actually thinking I might have to start driving an hour to the nearest WinCo if prices keep skyrocketing like this.
My work laptop has two USB-A and two USB-C ports, and that’s it. And once of those C’s gets used to charge it. Plus, it’s so thin that the battery lasts an hour and a half just idling on desktop. I’m just glad I mostly work on hardware stuff so I hardly ever have to actually use it.
It’s almost never actually a good business decision in the long-term to lose an employee, unless that employee is actually causing losses. All the layoffs of the past 50ish years from corporate downsizing is thanks to the business philosophy of Jack Welch. When you stop paying a large group of people, it looks good in the next quarterly meeting because you can point at the money you’re saving. The bad part is that now the business A) has lost that productivity, and B) will likely need to spend more money hiring a replacement worker who won’t be as competent.
Living in the US, the last time I tried to buy “Brioche” bread (Sara Lee was the brand), it was just like eating a sandwich made with a dense shortbread.

This is true. Apple’s excuse for it is that it’s used for FindMy and locking down a stolen device. So the Bluetooth and GPS and/or cellular radio still function with the device “off”.

This is honestly exactly what programming is: breaking down big problems into step by step simple problems. If you’ve never considered taking up programming before, I’d suggest you try it sometime and see where it takes you. It’s not hard to learn, it just takes time.
But what if you tell yourself they would despite all signs to the contrary?

Don’t forget the American robber barons!
Man, that gorilla needs to work on his stance. He’s swinging like an schoolgirl.

My wife was a Christian when we started dating, but her opinions on LGBTQ+ issues made her start questioning her faith which led her to leave the faith altogether by the time we were married.

But they’re kind of self-aware, so I think it’s supposed to make them more off-putting.
Fun fact: Redbox is operated by Chicken Soup for the Soul. I almost got hired by them but they screwed me over after I had already resigned from my previous position.

You joke, but the people here are such zealots that they would make the church the state if given the opportunity. Yet they’re such hypocrites they’d all be in line for a stoning if they did.
This honestly sounds like it could be the basis for a novella

Okay, why is nobody else asking why this is an image of a monitor?
Must be a Thursday. I never could get the hang of those.
