Is muscle tissue even infectious? (Especially when grown from a few cells) Don’t you need to eat some brain or spinal cord?
Strangely enough, in my bubble it is quite descent. People often posting interesting research and advances in the field.
Quereller@lemmy.oneto politics @lemmy.world•Congress voted against funding a cure for cancer just to block a win for Biden3·9 months agoYes, obviously there isn’t one cancer, but about every cancer is different. So yeah I give you that. Now, my other argument is you can make the same or more money with one time, possible curative therapies than with live prolonging one. See for example Kymriah. Sure, big and small pharma invest most in development were they can expect a high revenue. Either were there is a big patient population or a small population which have a high medical need. (And therefore are willing to pay a high price).
Quereller@lemmy.oneto politics @lemmy.world•Congress voted against funding a cure for cancer just to block a win for Biden52·9 months agoDo you really think the CEOs of big pharma don’t know they themselves have a 20% chance to die of cancer? (Not to speak of their relatives). Would the selfish and rich big pharma company leader not do everything to prevent its early death?
Quereller@lemmy.oneto politics @lemmy.world•Congress voted against funding a cure for cancer just to block a win for Biden2·9 months agoSpending one billion on breast cancer drug discovery/ development would probably lead to one more drug which increases survival by 10-20%. Or if spend on fundamental research it would lead to a lot of additional knowledge. Which might lead in about 10 years (and a few billions more) to a few drugs which increase survival a further 30-40 %.

Quereller@lemmy.oneto Asklemmy@lemmy.ml•Question to those not in the USA, and who have lived outside the USA.1·1 year agoThere is a more in dept post above. In a nutshell, you can have semi-auto with a shall issue permit. No carrying for self defense however.
Quereller@lemmy.oneto Asklemmy@lemmy.ml•Question to those not in the USA, and who have lived outside the USA.2·1 year agoWhen transported it should be in a locked box. I think this is not stated in the law. It must not be loaded and no magazine must be inserted. (Some people still carry their rifle on the back while riding the bike to the range. :-))
P.s. there are a few commercial shooting ranges not belonging to a club.
Quereller@lemmy.oneto Asklemmy@lemmy.ml•Question to those not in the USA, and who have lived outside the USA.2·1 year agoFor semi-automatic weapons you need a normal (shall issue) permit. Select fire / fully automatic you need a collectors license which is harder to get. Dependent on the canton you need to show a history of collecting firearm/ safe storage and some documentation about that. (They are legally forbidden weapons, which just means you need a permit which is harder to get). Shooting full auto also need an additional permit every time you want to do it.
