  • Fuckin EXACTLY, this misguided moralizing from the folks (very weakly) on the left, MAN I’m over it. I swear they’ll say this same dumbass, milquetoast, appeasement-ass fuckin garbage no matter how bad things get.

Un-fuckin-real. Then they go pat themselves on the back for their enlightened, reasonable takes - so much more wise than the ignorant fools choosing anger.

    🤡

MLK Jr. was right. Insincere, weakass support is the bigger problem, enemies can at least be fought properly. Fuck these uncommitted “progressives”. Cowards.

Sorry. Often angry too these days.

Edit to add: just so I don’t come across as “all gas no brakes” I have close relationships with two Trump voters. I understand nuance, and I work on them as I can, and I’m making real progress. We DO need to bring MAGAs back to reality if we can, and probably don’t have a hope without it.

But fuck this moralizing, telling others what to do, and especially fuck complaining about a particularly mean sign!

  • We’re just talking in circles my friend. My original and only point is that focusing on compassion for him when discussing the problem is misguided at best. At worst, it’s exactly the thing you’re describing - making the conversation entirely unproductive, and avoiding the serious problem, getting focused on this very typical moralizing we on the left do.

Fuck John Fetterman, and fuck any person who demands compassion for him be prioritized in the conversation. If we disagree, we disagree, I don’t think I can make my point any more clearly. I regard anyone demanding the wrong things be discussed as - intentionally or not - helping the fascists. This is not a poorly thought out point of view, it’s not a shallowly held conviction, and I’m just about finished even discussing it.

  • Sounds like everyone else is weirdly angry that he’s STILL IN OFFICE causing problems when he’s clearly not fit for the job, regardless of the reason? Isn’t that the more pressing concern than his health, him being an utter stranger to almost everyone?

Why do people need to be kind and sensitive toward someone’s recovery while that person insists on keeping a position of extreme responsibility, and constantly fucks it up, while “recovering”?

Crappy take, friend. And the “so much for tolerance” is such a loaded phrase, you almost sound insincere, to boot. We don’t owe these politicians a fuckin thing, CERTAINLY not some prioritized level of compassion. Get real!

  • Feel like DMing a bit? I’m in a similar boat, but not as far along. I’ve got what I believe is a viable idea with a niche but common market, I’m largely familiar with the tech involved (having built something similar before), and even the costs. Currently working on a POC before trying to conduct actual market research interviews (I realize most folks consider that backwards and are probably right).

  • What are you talking about lol. Jeff Bezos is doing the only thing Jeff Bezos does, stuff that’s good for Jeff Bezos. This is giant leverage that tells the Trump administration “we have big tools at our disposal if you don’t make us happy with whatever economic policies we do end up with”. He displayed that leverage, it turned into a news story, and behind closed doors, a shift occurred, likely minor, in the ever-evolving power dynamic between the two pricks.

Don’t get it twisted. These dudes and the rest like them will never help us except in the most casually incidental way.

  • Hmm, I don’t remember much, and not in his books in general. Although I am the kind of reader that’s wholly uninterested (no shade to those who feel differently!) - but it’s entirely possible it’s there and my brain doesn’t really hold onto it! But put bluntly his stories are usually bleak, romance would fit a little oddly.

  • This post really doesn’t call for this comment but here we go -

One of my favorite authors wrote at least one book in a setting where many galactic civilizations have come and largely gone, and treasure hunters try to “crack baubles” - break into old vaults and such left behind. Think Space Indiana Jones! But what’s really compelling and brain melty to me is that these civilizations used entirely unknown tech and physics in some cases. So they’re trying to break into and steal things they cannot possibly even comprehend, which is SO foolish and so fucking cool, and if that were available to me, my curiosity would utterly demand I keep at it until dead or worse.

Book is Revenger by Alastair Reynolds. Plus it’s got one of the scariest fuckin pirates ever, so I mean, Space Indiana Jones with horrifying unknown tech treasure and implacable, immortal(?) pirate villains…that’s gonna be a strong recommendation for the right flavor of reader lmao.
