Respect the player hate the game, unless the player is just another narcissistic bigot. I often like to make the distinction between my opinion on the system and that of individual human beings in said system. I may say “fuck the police” but also have respect towards a polite police officer that believes he’s doing a good thing.

World News@lemmy.ml•Gift to Palestinians from Scottish firefighters seized by Israel, may be sent back to UK: Report
7·17 days agoThe war in Gaza has proved that Israel can do whatever the fuck it wants and break as many laws and treaties and nobody’s going to do anything about it other than some useless words of condemnation.

14·3 months agoWesterners also seem to forget that the UK, France, and US are mostly to blame for all the instability and war in the middle east, forgetting (intentionally or not) the colonial and imperialist past of their governments when they were committing war crimes and dismissing the will and needs of entire populations for decades before the idea of non-europeans also having rights became popular.
Mine ended with something like “and everyone who is still alive and didn’t die yet lived happily ever after”

15·5 months agoI believe whether this was to cover up something or not, Israel is using intimation tactics to keep eyes and cameras away from them. We have a saying in Arabic that goes “hit the one with the leash to scare the loose” basically you attack non-threatening individuals to scare away actual threats.
You guys are also forgetting that the Golan Heights since 1981 and recently southern Syria are illegally occupied by Israel and heavily militarized. Which has caused the locals to move away that of itself may be argued to be a crime. So if you wanna maintain opsec go ahead but not when the operation is about stealing land and harassing locals.

Lemmy Shitpost@lemmy.world•A funny thing about Americans and calendar dates
7·7 months agoIn Arabic we use DD/MM/YYYY but it actually gets written as YYYY/MM/DD since Arabic is written and read from right to left. When the year is dropped the confusing part is not what format is used here but rather does this website/software support RTL or is it just regular unformatted ASCII.
Edit: it’s still not ISO 8601 and it doesn’t solve the sorting issue

12·8 months agoAs a computer engineering student who has just got into this whole fediverse thing recently I find the concept of decentralised social media to be pretty mesmerizing. I didn’t think people would actually seek the ability to cross-communicate too.
If this how the outside of my window looked in the middle east, a national emergency has probably been declared with hundreds dead or lost and the military dispatched to the streets.
