10·2 years agoCan you elaborate? I googled the right hand rule, but I’m not seeing how it applies to screws.
I have a fairly unusual, albeit not unheard of, first name. As far as I can tell, I’m sharing my first and last name with 5 or so people in the US. Back in 2008 or so I nabbed first.last@gmail.com (I also own www.firstlast.com haha). Every so often one of my brethren will use my email at dicks sporting goods or something. I always finish activating the account for them and sign them up for text alerts or something. Nothing evil. I figure they can just reply “stop” to opt out.

World News@lemmy.world•Japan to criminalise cannabis useEnglish
2·2 years agoIt’s hard to explain. At least for me, it helps me see things from another perspective. I work in web dev, and one of my favorite activities is to smoke a little bit, then work on my side projects. Some of my best work has come from my hyper focused, high, programming sessions.
Weed really kinda follows you wherever you take it. If you wanna veg out on the couch and watch TV, it’ll facilitate that for you. If you wanna go down a research rabbit hole on some obscure topic, it’ll facilitate that just fine too.

Are you suggesting that US English isn’t derived from British English? Or are you specifically talking about the history over the last couple hundred years? The US isn’t that old, and also has a rich cultural history…
Maybe an example of how Britain’s rich cultural history has better shaped the language is in order.
Sounds like the US got this one right when we dumped the latter.

Probably an American who made the meme.
I wouldn’t think much about it if British person made the meme and used “Moo” for their cow. I would just assume it was a British person who made the meme. To them that’s the default.
