  • According to the admin, 1.6m people have self deported or been deported. They also said they arrested more than 352,000 and deported more than 324,000. Not sure if the 324k is from the 352k, I think the 324k is included in the 1.6m.

200 days, 1.6m deported. 8,000 per day average. 2.92m per year, 11.68m over 4 years. 11m is the conservative estimate number of unlawful immigrants, Pew says 14m, but the upper estimate is over 21m.

So they claim they have hit 1m a year a while ago, but we would have to trust their numbers are accurate. There are indications that at least 600,000 have left the US, but that is pretty much based on vibes because concrete numbers are impossible to obtain.

  • Pretty much zero.

The Dems would need to have an actual platform other than orange man and couch fucker bad. They keep running on feelings and vibes without a concrete plan to improve things. Not that they will be able to accomplish anything of value, given the circumstances, which will not help in 2028. Then there is the 3rd parties that could form that really makes things worse.

Without a serious effort by the Dems, we are almost certainly going to have another 4 years of Republican Whitehouse in 2028 and the best hope is a slight majority in Congress.

  • You can get tattoos that are you skin tone, but they aren’t invisible, they will show up if you get flush or tan.

There also are UV tattoos that onto show up under blacklight. How visible they are varies, but there is usually a ghosting with them.

Both cases, the ink fades faster than other colors. How fast that happens depends on the person and how much sun exposure you get. You can get touch ups every 2 years to keep the UV bright, but it does muddy the tattoo the more you do that.

  • For someone to get to work on a government site, you have to pass a background check. Since Secret Service is involved, they will check social media as well.

Clark Construction is doing most of the building, outside of the engineering construction, and they are actually fairly good in the industry. They intentionally provide a starting point to get into trades with pre-apprenticeship employment, which is huge in construction trades. Wages and benefits are on par with national averages for non-union labor.

The lowest paid people are “helpers” and they fuck up plenty when they try not to and aren’t allowed to touch anything that could be of consequence. At most they could write a message on something nobody will see until the next renovation.

  • Most of that gets solved with an altered prompt or trying again.

That is less of an issue as time goes on. It was just a couple years ago that the number of fingers and limbs were a roll of the dice, now the random words in the background are alien.

AI is getting so much money dumped into it that it is progressing at a very rapid pace. an all AI movie is just around the corner and it will have a style that says AI, but could easily be mistaken with a conventional film production that has a particular style.

Once AI porn gets there, AI has won media.

  • Lemmy loves artists who have their income threatened by AI because AI can make what they make at a substantially lower cost with an acceptable quality in a fraction of the time.

AI depends on being trained on the artistic works of others, essentially intellectual and artistic property theft, so that you can make an image of a fat anime JD Vance. Calling it plagiarism is a bit far, but it edges so hard that it leaks onto the balls and could cum with a soft breeze.

AI consumes massive amounts of energy, which is supplied through climate hostile means.

AI threatens to take countless office jobs, which are some of the better paying jobs in metropolitan areas where most people can’t afford to live.

AI is a party trick, it is not comparable to human or an advanced AI. It is unimaginative and not creative like an actual AI. Calling the current state of AI anything like an advanced AI is like calling paint by numbers the result of artistry. It can rhyme, it can be like, but it can never be original.

I think that about sums it up.

  • All of that is nonsense.

I worked for 2 corporate retail chains that would send the stores the price labels for sales and we would print out a file for other tags.

In a quarter, most labels would be replaced and they would send irregular price changes every week. We would spend probably 10 man-hours a week taking down and putting up labels under typical operations.

Items don’t generally move far or often, except for rotating display spaces at the ends of aisles for promotional items where every tag changes. Every few years they might make radical changes to item placements, but they tend not to because it confuses customers.

There is no reason to exclude the tax in the price labels except for tradition and/or concealing how much you will actually pay with the tax added. Most people know what the taxes are in the area they shop and will just round up to the next dollar or add 10% if they are on a budget.

Bring on wireless electronic price tags that show the price including tax.
