No matter how you put it the USA holds a much stronger hand in this. Tankies can cheer China on all they want but this will hit their economy very hard.
Don‘t get me wrong it‘s a moronic dispute with no winners other than the occasional insider trading in the White House. And some say that‘s the point. However the way China handles this they just might be the biggest losers in the end. In order to save face, China risks losing everything.

I hope the free, democratic world comes together while China and the USA have their little stalemate.

That was somehow immediately clear to little me.
CosmoNova@lemmy.worldto politics @lemmy.world•Trump is 'shredding' credibility with allies while China benefits, former national security advisor John Bolton says76·7 days agoExcept China is a full blown dictatorship fully committed to genocide and land grab their way to the top while the USA can still steer away from it even after everything that‘s already happening.
Bolton is an interesting character in that I believe he has the USA‘s best interest in mind but says and probably did a lot of evil things in the eyes of the rest of the world.
With that in mind I think that, yes, he is absolutely right but it doesn‘t and shouldn‘t be that way. The world needs to be less dependent on China or the USA and maybe here is the chance to do so.
CosmoNova@lemmy.worldto World News@lemmy.world•Xi makes a case for free trade, presenting China as a source of 'stability and certainty'English2211·7 days agoBuy made in China and you pay twice. Most people may have forgotten it but I remember the dragged out supply shortages due to their idiotic and inhumane pandemic policies while denying the pandemic started there and claiming they have everything under control (they didn’t). They’ve proven to be unrealiable which has prompted a world wide process of diversifying supply chains. Trump is an angry lunatic but that doesn’t mean we have to settle with the next worse thing just because it’s quick and easy. There is a whole world out there.

CosmoNova@lemmy.worldto World News@lemmy.world•Why more young men in Germany are turning to the far-rightEnglish542·2 months agoYup. Seeing it first hand with a shorts addict relative right now. It‘s just doomscrolling all the way to the 4th Reich for many of them. It‘s sadly not surprising but all the more horrifying to see how utterly unequipped we are to deal the pace of „social“ media and how easy it is to spread far right ideology with lies and memes. I think a ban of TikTok and Xitter is inevitable at this point. They‘re too far gone.
CosmoNova@lemmy.worldto World News@lemmy.world•Wealth inequality risks triggering 'societal collapse' within next decade, report findsEnglish81·3 months agoIt’s a hilariously incompetent strategy by the rich because they’re more dependent on a functioning society than any other group. You can tell they’re not smart nor good leaders when they build luxury bunkers in New Zealand because those won’t save them from losing virtually (and possibly literally) everything they have. They have everything to lose and the only thing they need to do to keep their wealth and power is to contribute to the society they’re living off of. They’re failing miserably because they lack compassion. It will be their downfall.

Besides me and many other Neurodiverse people have our doubts about his autism claim because there just isn’t much there to support it other than his claim. Neither would it excuse his behavior that isn’t at all typical for autism.
What are you talking about? The USA is quite literally the biggest producer and exporter of agricultural goods in the world and don‘t even get me started on patents and digital services. They are by far the richest country on earth. The only thing China has going for it here is recklessness towards their own people because believe it or not, there are worse places to be than the USA right now. Hard to comprehend, but sadly true.
