  • well, i am sorry, if you perceived it that way. i know for sure that your way of perceiving the world is more nuanced than that. So am i, but I’m sorry if it didn’t come as such.

No dousing anyone in gasoline is not ok, i mean wtf ? But it does not represent the movement as a whole.

If someone got drugged and rapped at a festival against genocide. Obviously it does not represent the movement. But you can be sure that countries where solidarity with Palestine is classified as terrorist will use the rape case against the movement.

Here it is the same, and in the context of violent repression, crass inequality, provocations. They have (teachers AND students) used every non-violent use and every method that exists. They have been mocked by the power in place telling them to stop being capricious, stop acting like children. Well of course violence will happen.

Mostly against trashcan, which is not violence but degradation. You cannot (in the legal term) be violent against something that is not alive.

And yes, in the 400+ schools that are in blocus which represent a consequent mass of people, some will be stupid. Is the movement a bunch of stupid people? what are they fighting for ?

    • More teachers and personnel (some courses cannot be given for months because they lack a teacher)
    • classes that are insulated and do not fall apart
    • the end of a discriminatory “automated” sorting system at the end of school

wtf they do not have that yet?

Yeah it is important to document the movement, every time people talk about violence (it is never the police brutality, it is 4k though), people do not talk about what the movement as a whole is doing/wanting.

No they are not responsible if someone does X, they are even accounts where they are against. They face oppression, they cannot vote nor strike, they do not even block the road, just their school. They manifest peacefully (which is a constitutional right), the power in place chooses repression(wtf why? against what?). Will it stay peaceful? i think it will be quite impressive if it does.

And a happy yellow jacket comes back !

  • There is a lot of inequality.

It is not like “based on the number of students you have, you will have to equality share X amount of €”

Some school are “prestigious” so they have a lot more money from the government and from rich parents that can pay for it.

The lowest income school in paris have a lot more than the highest income school in saint-denis (poor city). The problem ? France is a Republic, with a devise that is “freedom, equality, fraternity”

So when rich student “strike” in solidarity (yes it happen, they remember they are human) rich teachers are against that. One could also argue about abuses in the teachers staff.

And obviously, raging people are gonna rage and see any figure of power as an enemy.

So long story short, it is complex but very marginal. The mainstream media in france is owned by 5 billionaires. So yes, EVERY LITTLE THING that you will hear about will be detrimental to the movement. It was the same with the yellow jacket that comes back tomorrow if my info is right.

remember what students (and teachers) want, they are asking for it for month and you only hear about it because they make noises!

they want more teachers that have a correct salary, more staff, the end of a discriminatory “automated” sorting system (parcoursup). They want school that are insulated and do not fall apart.

WoW ! They are asking so much ? what do you mean they do not have that yet ?

Talk about the violence to be slowly cooked day after day for weeks at 35°C and yeah, you will develop a political consciousness very fast.

  • yeah, They can not vote, they can not strike. So they just block their own studying place in solidarity with the teachers.

They want more teachers, they want classes that are insulated from heat and cold (they had to get to school and “study and learn” under 35°C, and 8°C in the winter) They want the end of the “automated” sortage system (parcoursup) that will impact their lives.

Mainstream media only show burning trashcan. The large majority is very very peaceful. They chant the national hymn. Still police is violent against fucking children, gazing them, arresting some of them without justification just to break morale, strangling them, charging them, accelerating with a car through them while gazing by the windows.

and that is happening while the “yellow jacket” movement is coming back. election are coming in six months so the elite are hoping that will call people down… but it is not likely.

addendum: the justice minister, the police minister and the education minister had a reunion about “stopping the movement dead in the tracks” not like “finding solution”, or trying to understand. So take every number with a grain of salt and i recommend watching independent media like Mediapart.

  • Well, There is a range of options in my opinion. They range from immediate to long term futur. They range from achievable alone to mass mobilization.

    • Reading how peoples sustained themselves during ww1 et ww2 ( start a garden, adopt chicken) but it does take more time and cost reduction is not immediate

    • Having a library of thing is a way to help community project like a community garden to do the trick

    • work in a cooperative, everyone is owning the workplace and having equal pay. It is not that we don’t produce enough, it is that capitalism is wastefull, the boss of your boss make 20 times what you do, is he 20 more productive that you?

    • Help friends and family, they often have things in surplus, than can reduce waste and give away things for free as they exchange it

    • Ask for help, you are not the only one struggling, like, we all are, i mean wtf. We all are struggling, we are not angry enough. You will be surprised what peoples are willing to do to help a stranger.

    • you are struggling against a system that is quite happy to fine with you struggling, you know what will offer better pay and conditions? Join the army! You can die and torture yourself forever defending a system that put you in such a conditions in the first place.

    • mobilize for political change, be creative! As long as you are 75% in accord with a movement, join it but do not compromise if the output is against the right of other people (except power structure like state, richs, or obviously privilegied people) lets be more equals !
