Nope. That doesn’t sound like a reasonable comparison at all. Ancestral heritage and cultural affiliation are significant parts of the artificial social construct of “race”. And no, I do not believe you can defeat racism by mixing everyone together until we all share the same appearance and background. If anything, I think truly defeating racism would be celebrating those differences, not covering them up.

To be honest though, I’m mostly just being pedant because of your language in the original comment. You make some good points, but nobody makes any ground when they start off by calling people names. I suspect most of the downvotes are the result of the same kind of thinking. ✌️

Whether or not a generalizing bigot is a racist depends on more than that. Given the example, the chances are high. However, there is no French race and I find the calling of the entire population of France a single ethnic group a bit disgusting. So no, in isolation I would not call French-hate racism, but it still doesn’t make it right. Just like calling someone a “piece of shit” on the internet.

There is no Italian race! Boarders are not ethnic groups, and by claiming they are you are generalizing the contents of those boarders.

To be quite honest, I did some searching of race and racism before even my first response to you just be sure. I still dont agree with you and neither did what I found. Furthermore, unless there’s some votes not federating to my instance, nobody on here agrees with your initial claim.

I think I understand where your coming from, but I’m uncomfortable with blurring the distinction between national boarders and race. After all, I think we both agreed that different human races aren’t real, while nations are much more concrete. If we label all generalization as racism, I fear that it waters down the meaning of the word, just like when people call anything more authoritarian than them a Nazi.

However, we can definitely agree that sweeping generalizations are bad. Instead of spreading hate in the world, we should treat others how we would wish to be treated.

I’m convinced Prusa and Bambu pricing is very simular; their printers just aren’t always an apples-to-apples comparison. When considering enclosed, metal framed, coreXY printers, the Prusa Core One can be purchased as a kit for $950, but the Bambu X1C is $1150. (I highly recommend the Prusa kit options for new owners so they can get familiar with maintaining their machine.) At the mini end, you have the same $200 difference, but in the other direction. The Prusa Mini+ kit is $430 while the Bambu A1 Mini is $220. However, these Bambu prices are currently shown as discounted and I’m not sure if they ever go up to their higher MSRPs. Therefore, I don’t like how Prusa is the only printer brand in this guide with an “expensive” warning.

Edit: Perhaps it would add more clarity to instead include the MSRP in parentheses beside the individual printers listed below.

I’m not sure what you’re woooshing here. If your saying that you were being sarcastic and you do recognize they were using affordable hardware, then that was understood. That’s exactly what I was responding to.

They used their Prusas and cheap filament to print pipe fittings that exceeded residential plumbing pressure requirements by 4-8x across the different materials. Filament cost was 3-17x cheaper than commercial fittings. Overall this study was a success. I think this price-point of printer hardware is a perfect match for the application. Any quality improvements from a more expensive “professional” printer would be wasted on these kinds of simple, low-precision designs.

Yes we are talking about home-teir 3D printers here. They used a Prusa MK3S printer and Prusa XL in this study. Also, they tested PLA in addition to PETG and ASA.
