Good old “don’t judge a book by its cover”
Some books have names that don’t evocate much, a tame cover and end up being smut books. Quick search brings up “Normal people”. Unassuming title and cover, you might guess romance, but quoting an article mentioning it “The sex scenes in this one really do jump off the page”.
You might not want your 10-13 y/o reading about that just yet…Some other might have toxic ideas, graphic depiction of violence, or lots of things you might want a teen to not read just yet.
I don’t know how I should feel about getting this joke
Absolutly amazing, thank you !
I want the POV with the camera, in front of him, as he slips. I wonder if it’s been posted anywhere

2·10 months agoI ended up going with Crowdsec.
The setup was a bit of a challenge as I like to do it the RTFM way abd that there is a bunch of concepts to grasp before you really understand what you are doing, but since then it’s been working pretty great ! And it’s free (as in you are providing them with data on the occurence of threats etc, so you don’t pay)

9·1 year agoI’m properly in awe at this project. Not only does it support a wide range of protocols and runs practically everywhere, but it can play audio, video, display images and has keyboard shortcut support ???
It’s got everything I could think about and so much more.
I can’t wait to try it out !
Thank you so much for your time and for making this open source.

World News@lemmy.world•French President Macron says France will recognise Palestine as a stateEnglish
24·1 year agoMacron said he would do exactly that in June.
I’ll belive it when he actually does it.
Full disclaimer : I’ve only ever used stalwart. Started with it and had no reason to change.
Been using it for about a year as a mail server for my services.
The set up is simple, configuration can be done through the webui or the conf files.
Creating users, mails, aliases etc is very straight forward.
Everything is pretty much painless, the documentation has almost everything you might need.
You can also configure automatic cert renewal. Something else I really like is that when you add a domain (you can have multiple) it also gives you the DNS configuration to add to your DNS server.Honestly I’d say it’s a solid choice. On my side it’ll be part of futur projects where a mail server is needed.

1·2 years agoI just read a bit about it and it sounds quite interesting with the community aspect of it all. I’ll give it a deeper look later, thanks !
Of course it’s not, and anyone thinking so is a fool, but it’s funny. It’s a shitposting community, the post fits the bill imo.

Asklemmy@lemmy.ml•What app is so useful, you can’t believe it’s free?
1·3 years agoSadly it’s the case for a lot of open source softwares I feel. I’ve had the same feed back on GIMP.
But honestly once you get used to it, it has some really great tools that actually make it just as powerful (if not more depending on who you ask) than its direct competitor: Adobe Lightroom.
It’s a little rough to get into it, but imo it’s worth the investment.

Oh but I have them !
Every day an email is sent out with the backup status.
Every day I got my email in the morning with the back up logs.
For years.
I associated email received to backup successful, until a month or so when my vpn broke and the emails where just “could not connect”, but it took me a while to bother actually opening the message body as it had always been the same for years.
So I’ll manage it differently, have the email subject be more explicit about a success or a failure amongst other things.
Always learning :^)
