Alabama Sen. Tommy Tuberville called for New York City Mayor Zohran Mamdani to be arrested and sent to the infamous American torture prison at Guantanamo Bay. Mamdani’s crime? Calling indicted alleged war criminal Benjamin Netanyahu an “architect of genocide,” responsible for a series of atrocities in the ongoing war on Gaza.

“Sooner or later,” Mamdani will “do something more stupid than what he’s done, where we will finally say enough is enough, go put the handcuffs on him … and send him to Gitmo,” Tuberville, a Republican, said, calling Mamdani a “thug.”

When politicians say things like that with no repercussions, that’s when you should know you are no longer in a respectable democracy

Yea, any respectable democracy would have shut the city down with protests until this fuckwit steps down.

For the fuckests of sakes, you had a president who had to step down because he got a blowjob. Granted, that wasn’t okay, but calling for imprisonment and possible torture of your political opponents because they give half a shit about international law is fucking insane.

It stopped being a respectable democracy when Trump mocked a disabled reporter and was still able to continue his campaign with no consequences
