I’m sure that was fun to watch for Seahawks fans, but it was not a good game. Halftime show was good, though.

123·10 days agoAt this point, what can happen? Congress is under the same sticky thumb as Trump, and there aren’t enough voters who are engaged enough to even know about it. The firehose of bullshit did exactly what it was supposed to do, and now there’s no public will left to keep fighting for freedom and democracy.

I can understand the appeal of a piece of bread that’s been soaked or buttered or even just toasted and salted. I bet that’s delicious, if done right.
My question is, why the other two slices of bread? What’s the thinking there? Why not have three slices of delicious middle bread? If the bread is good enough on its own, why not eat it alone?
It’s like if you made a drink of tepid water by adding ice cubes to a glass of warmed water and then letting them completely melt until room temperature. Who is this recipe for? “Oh, but maybe the ice cubes are flavored” OK then why freeze them before melting them? “Maybe the hot water is flavored with herbs that rele-” Bitch, that’s tea.
I’m so confused, I’m getting mad at imaginary arguments I’m having with hypothetical morons about analogous situations that only exist in my head.

politics @lemmy.world•Number of US independents hits record
21·1 month agoHonestly, that’s bullshit. The left shows up to vote consistently for the Democrats. All polling data confirms that the people who stay home are the disengaged and the moderates. It’s not that people can’t agree on what is left enough, it’s that the center tries to win votes from the right by demonizing the left, and it doesn’t work. Successful campaigns across the political spectrum are persuasive and idealogical. The voters are never going to be more enthusiastic than the candidate.
And that’s the difference between leadership and pandering. Telling people in the center what they want to hear because you’re afraid to lose is precisely how you lose.

13·1 month agoIt is indeed, but I think the point is that the right has been able to move the window so far to the right because there is no functioning left.

ICE agents have no legal authority to conduct police actions or abduct people without cause. There is no legal justification for any of this. It is naked fascism, tolerated because no one will stop them.
