World News@lemmy.world•X axes European Commission’s ad account after €120M EU fineEnglish
1·8 days agoJFC I have to be more specific? A law that defines allowable products is a law. A ban is a ban. If you want to ban a COMPANY that’s a ban on the COMPANY. not a LAW that defines allowable products.
Do you seriously think a company that has to adjust something just throws their arms up and says “Oh I guess we’re banned”? When the EU required USB-C ports did Apple just say “fuck I guess we’re banned, we’ll withdraw from the EU and lose all that revenue” or did they just put in a USB-C port. JFC. That law did not ban Apple the COMPANY.
JFC I’m leaving this conversation.

Bier accused the EU executive of trying to amplify its own social media post about the fine on X by trying “to take advantage of an exploit in our Ad Composer — to post a link that deceives users into thinking it’s a video and to artificially increase its reach.”

I think this is the difference between opening doors to the future vs closing doors to the past. When China funded EVs and battery research, they opened the door to the future. When the EU and US try to ban gas engines, they are trying to close the door to the past. Guess which one works.
