Although I agree and run a free grill myself, this looks like one of those computer controlled pellet smokers, not a regular grill. Not a straight comparison to grilling.

politics @lemmy.world•GOP-led Oversight Committee says Biden pardons signed by autopen are ‘void’ in final report
51·5 days agoThe problem is this will be selectively applied. Democrats won’t “stoop so low” as to void pardons, and Republicunts will keep voiding them as suits their purpose. Neither side of course will address any larger structural issue than that

World News@lemmy.world•As Gold Hits New Record, Some See Warning Signs of Civilizational CollapseEnglish
4·13 days agoTalking in just modern times most any technology uses it. It’s used in medicine as nanoparticles for biosensors and cancer treatment (photothermal therapy) as well as targeted medicine delivery. Pretty much all computers have gold wires in them due to it’s conductive properties which sure isn’t necessary for sustaining life technically but modern life, yes. It’s been used in dentistry since like 1000 BC because of how inert it is, it’s used in chemistry all over the place and material science which we rely on to use on all the previous fields. I could go on but I think the point is clear, gold has many many uses beyond just jewelry.

Asklemmy@lemmy.ml•has anyone had a gamer partner or been that gamer partner? what helped the relationship despite being a gamer?
38·17 days agoUsual caveats: I’m a person on the Internet, going off only what you’ve posted and just your side of things, so can only say so much. I’m also exhausted so probably rambling.
I am the gamer in my relationship. Married for several years quite happily. I spent ~24 hours gaming this week. I will spend about 0 hours gaming next week doing what my wife wants.
“She still makes time for me when we play video games” <- this right here is concerning to me. Not criticizing you at all but that isn’t the way. Just “sucking it up” will only lead to resentment and loneliness and fighting. Ask me how I know. If she’s only making time for you in her hobbies, that’s not really making time for you, which is why you’re feeling unfulfilled and asking on the Internet.
A relationship is entirely about balance. If you have hobbies and interests outside of gaming there should be time for those. She should be willing to go to those because she cares about you. Not always, and not at the cost of her fulfillment, but some. Once a week I go out to dinner and then watch a dumb rom-com or something. I have zero interest in it but I do it because it makes her happy. Then at some time during the week we I take time to game and she brings me snacks because it makes me happy. It’s a give and take and we’re both happy
Have you tried communicating directly to her “I want to do this, and I want to do it with you. Please join me because this is a way I enjoy spending time with you”? What was her response to that? My wife and I learned early in our relationship that we need to just be clear and say those things. Being able to not only express what you’rr feeling but understand and listen to what your partner is feeling is the only way it will last. And really think about both what you’re saying and what she is saying. Sometimes my wife and I still have to stop each and clarify what the other person actually means. You can’t read her mind so don’t assume you know what she means. Make sure. And visa versa.
It’s not easy. But seriously. Go have a deep heart to heart and figure out where the disconnect is and what balance is needed to make the relationship work long term.

Asklemmy@lemmy.ml•How long has it been since you left the house?
4·18 days agoLike four hours? Got some wine as a present and quick little walk.
Depression sucks. Hopefully you can find some meds and a process that works for you. As others mentioned, logging off really can help. It’s all about balance.
Just finished Sunderfolk with a group of friends and my wife. Also finished Expedition 33 (and I’ll never stop talking about it).
I’m about halfway through Dodgeball Academy and Chants of Sennaar. They’re a fun little distraction before I dig into Blue Prince and Hades

17·24 days agoHear me out but Iron sky. A group of Nazis have been hiding on the moon. They’re back now. I thought it was a great romp and you could tell the creators cared.
Kung Fury was also 10/10. Time travel Nazi fighting.
I see a theme lol

With new water heaters yes, do your maintenance. Old water heater that came with the place and hasn’t been touched in years? Yeah, the advice is to actually not flush it because you don’t know what cracks that gunk might be blocking up and it will be more likely to fail on you sooner.
I dunno, his government tracks so far with what I remember of the film.

710·2 months agoOr maybe, just maybe, everyone communicates differently and sarcasm is hard to portray in written communication. Go eat some and chill a minute. I’ve heard plenty of people say the exact same thing you just said and did not mean it as sarcasm, which makes it even harder to tell.

67·2 months agoIf you’re being sarcastic it isn’t clear. “Just following orders” is never an excuse. The Nazis tried to use that one.
I’ll pull you through the streets on a rickshaw announcing it
