  • Voting third party without some form of Rank Choice is literally pointless. This is basic game theory stuff. It’s why the establishment on both sides are against Rank Choice.

Nothing will change without Rank Choice voting. Even if you succeed in displacing one of the two parties with a third, that third party just becomes one of the two parties and nothing changes.

I’m not saying to not vote third party. I’m saying get your local election to switch to Rank Choice and THEN vote third party.

  • “Live a good life. If there are gods and they are just, then they will not care how devout you have been, but will welcome you based on the virtues you have lived by. If there are gods, but unjust, then you should not want to worship them. If there are no gods, then you will be gone, but will have lived a noble life that will live on in the memories of your loved ones.” - Marcus Aurelius (misattributed)

A good person would reward good people for being good. If Jesus won’t reward a good person for being good just because they haven’t “accepted him into their heart” well… I said what I said.

  • It’s worth noting that “blue no matter who” is just a bandaid, just a drive to get fascists out of power long enough to enact voting reform. The two party system is an organic result of First Past The Post voting; we have to move to some form of Rank Choice if we’re ever to see any progress. Thankfully voting regulations are on the local level, where change is still possible. This is one of the many reasons Trump is trying to federalize elections.

Until we get voting reform, there will only be Two Parties, and they will always drift to the right.

  • Yeah well, it’s not their job to keep fascists out if power. It’s OUR job. Us, the voters.

Voting works. If it didn’t, they wouldn’t be trying so hard to stop us from doing it. And once we have Rank Choice we’ll be able to move beyond the “an actual fascist/not an actual fascist” dichotomy. But until then, for fucks sake, vote “not an actual fascist” even if you don’t like the person you’re voting for. I don’t care how terrible they are, if they’re not an actual fascist then you vote for them. THAT’S how you keep fascists out of power.

  • This is why I’m giving up on changing the DNC and refocusing my efforts on changing the voting system from First Past The Post to Rank Choice.

But we also need the fascists out of power, and kept out of power.

These two things have to be achieved in parallel. That’s why I vote Democrat, but only until I have Rank Choice at which point the Democrats will become my second pick (and then eventually third pick, and hopefully someday not one of my picks at all)
