This is the correct answer. Unless you’re just wanting to learn networking. Blocking outbound on shit that doesn’t need it, and having a dmz if you’re really really wanting to host outside of your environment is the best way. If someone is in your environment, vlans aren’t going to stop them.

Lemmy Shitpost@lemmy.world•Apparently they are actually for birds???
3·8 days agoYep, one my horses sister drown herself in 3 foot of water(shallow pond)…we couldn’t figure out how since we didn’t know her sister and was told the story by the previous owner. That was until we brought her to one of the deeper creeks on the farm…the second the water got to her chest, she would plung her entire face in and try to swim underwater. Come up and be half water logged get some air and do it again. Needless to say that’s how we figured out her sister probably was rolling around in the pond, and literally asphyxiated herself via breathing in water enough that she probably passed out and drown.
I love that horse, but she’s working with two braincells at best.

2·8 days agoYep sounds about right. It’s a rewarding work but it does make you wonder how they lived before humans domesticated them.

Lemmy Shitpost@lemmy.world•Apparently they are actually for birds???
3·8 days agoNope %100 makes sense. And horses are definitely the second dumbest creature on the planet. They will try and kill themselves daily. Our vet always said that if a horse wants to kill itself, it’ll find a way even in circular padded room. And we have a few that on a daily will try to do shit that makes you think how they’re still alive.

Lemmy Shitpost@lemmy.world•Apparently they are actually for birds???
3·8 days agoYea, I mean I’m not saying that to be mean. As I genuinely like the birds. They will talk to you when you get near them in the barns and the two we raised are still hanging out on the farm even years after we released them.

10·9 days agoPigeons are really dumb birds, how they have survived as a species is a mystery to me. We have a few pairs on the farm that have had babies and out of the 6-8 that have made it to maturity, 2 of them we had to rescue cause they just jumped out of the nest and couldn’t fly yet. We’d put them back in the nest for a few days and then just give up and raise them in the aviary until they were fully grown and then release them. Awesome birds as pets, but dumb as a box of rocks in the wild.

politics @lemmy.world•The US president just instructed the USPS to seize any ballots cast be anyone not approved by the federal government.
61·13 days agoUSPS is underfunded and understaffed. This is exactly why he wants to dump this on them. It’s so votes don’t make it in time.

World News@lemmy.world•Vaping likely to cause lung and oral cancer, Australian researchers find in new review of evidenceEnglish
2·14 days agoCorrect but in that study they were literally burning the wicks and filaments by running the vape dry.
Even when I was vaping like 15+ years ago you couldn’t find liquid with diacetyl flavoring used. It was basically non-existent even then.

World News@lemmy.world•Vaping likely to cause lung and oral cancer, Australian researchers find in new review of evidenceEnglish
183·14 days agoThe dentist part makes zero sense…PG is antibacterial and antimicrobial, which we have known for decades now. This study like you said is %100 bullshit, and just like the “popcorn” lung study, probably burned the wicks and metals on the vapes with no solution at all.
Someone’s got an agenda here.
That was the guy who made the Keurig. Though I use mine daily but I have the reusable pods, so ground coffee goes in pod, then make a cup, then the grounds go in compost and pod gets washed and back in the coffee drawer. I’m using way less coffee and electricity than if I boiled an entire pot on the stove.

9·28 days agoYou can feel safe again…just need to fucking leave.
Sure, look at the WSM guys, they look fat and are fit, but even they know what they’re doing isn’t healthy…but let’s stop trying to suggest that the norm is fit people who look obese. You know exactly what I’m talking about, the mass majority are not fit and look obese, the mass majority are obese. There is a reason cancers and diseases are spiking, and it’s not from fit people.
Oh, and one more thing, fatness isn’t a ubiquitous measure of healthiness or virtue, and thinness isn’t either. We have to challenge our assumptions and biases, a lot of which come from our cultures and media.
It kinda is… obesity is not healthy. Period. It’s bad for your joints, your organs, it’s a driver for cancers and other illnesses. The HAES movement is partially to blame for this massive spike in obesity we’re seeing. All of those links you post, are not causing the majority of people to be obese. The epidemic is not something that happened in the past, it’s quite recent.
Yep, it’s a problem that existed, but should have been taken care of in the ME by the ME…not the usa and sure as fuck not by Israel or trump.

4·1 month agoNone of that is going to happen. IPs do not match with users 99.99% of the time, because of CGNAT and 99.99999% of users not paying for a static IP…and if they are, then they’re not going to be dumb enough to not be on a VPN…on top of that, VPN companies don’t keep logs. And not just for privacy reasons, keeping traffic logs of users is extremely expensive on storage and it’s also a good way to get drug into court.
The Internet does not work like CSI

The amount of people who make it through HR hell and interview for my team, that have a some experience but it’s all bounce around 1y and then have an insane amount of certs, that don’t know what they’re doing is way to high in tech. I’ll take a green horn that wants to learn and has a good foundation before I’ll take someone with bounce around experience and a shit load of certs. Almost all certs are how well can you take tests.
