I’ll give ya a hint, women, or any other involuntarily grouped together association of peoples (gender/race/sexuality/etc) are not a monolithic block that should be generalized in some fashion.

Taking issue with A woman is one thing, saying ALL women is another. An individual is not the standin for the group.

Groups that one wilfully joins who act badly as a standard protocol can be shit on all you like. Nobody is going to flame you for shit talking a nazi, but saying ‘women (or pick a group) are like this’ always has exceptions.

An interesting point, to some extent I think that response can be strongly correlated to generational lines. Those of us born not of this century can be a bit curmudgeonly and take it as an attack on the self rather than seeing it for the impact on society.

The phrase ‘man up’ has a different connotation when it was instilled from a young age to mean ‘be strong’ rather than being seen as an isolationist closed off mindset.

It takes time, even for those willing to learn.

Aside from what I understand as an inability to actually remove bad content that gets in, how does that differ from something like hosting a fedi site?

Then you get things like the platform you’re on where in my case it resides in my house and lets me be that big scary admin/mod. Having the ability to purge bad content and actors from a central space is needed for anyone but the most thick skinned masochists to use a platform.

You’re going to try and compare lack of understanding about a mental condition to people physically getting wider?

Didn’t care about the specifics of a particular one over another. My take is that promoting the ‘fix’ of something via chemical intervention that wasn’t a widespread problem until relatively recently is the wrong approach.

This is not something caused by genetics or some novel disease targeting the USA public, it’s a change in recent decades of our diets and lifestyles.

Pills and shots of any sort are only masking the underlying issue, regardless of their mechanism.

Which is quite a lot of words to say eating too much no-nutrition highly processed fast food/easy-prep bullshit.

I’m not disagreeing in the least that the mass of HFCS and salt laden garbage is a big driver of it. However, those things only are allowed to become the staples of our diets that they have because people are too complacent and willing to open the freezer rather than do a bit of whole food kitchen work.

I’ve made it a point to learn what I can to avoid the loss of capability to make decent food for ourselves. As I say to my kids, I worry there’ll be a day when Grandma’s famous thanksgiving pie comes in a box from Sarah Lee.

The workings of any particular variant are largely irrelevant.

In effect it still promotes the idea that rather than eat better and live healthier that your problems should be solved with a pill or shot.

Edit: Since diet and exercise are so unpopular here, I’ve yet to see anyone explain how it is that the average obesity rate in the USA has grown so significantly over the past century in anything beyond a ambiguous ‘medical condition’ or ‘genetics’.

The makeup of the human species hasn’t so dramatically evolved over the course of a few generations, that’s simply not how evolution works, but somehow despite supposedly nobody overeating and everyone getting plenty of good exercise we’ve gotten to a point where Americans are globally stereotyped as being big fat slobs.

Maybe? I dunno, seems a way for people to treat it as a get out of guilt free card. Some types work as stimulants to promote burning more calories rather than helping minimize intake.

The guy is an over eager would be tyrant, and the rest of his party knows they’ll be the ones in firing range when people finally get sick of him. Slowly it starts to show that he’s lost the plot and needs to be ousted…
