cats@lemmy.world•Told my buddy the best part about staying at a hotel is getting out of the shower and not having crap stick to your feet.
15·3 days agoWe use a clumping litter and haven’t noticed a problem having it in the bathroom. We do have a good vent fan in there though, and use it with every shower to help prevent mold.
Our present cat treads much less litter than any previous. But that’s because she doesn’t bury anything, just steps delicately out and scratches the wall.

Better you have the launch codes than who has them now
Or it’s genius because anyone who has some shit to post in a real community either decides it’s better for here, where it can be enjoyed and it doesn’t drown out the real content, or they try it there, the mod stops them, and instead of getting all butthurt about it they can bring it here where it gets seen by more people anyway and still the real community stays pure.

That is the pose of a cat who feels safe and relaxed.

Well then, if you’re driving her from Pomona CA to Chicago IL, it’s not a scam, it’s a road trip! Have fun!

21·9 days agoI don’t mind engaging. I may not be able to change them, but maybe there’s a kid out there feeling a little less alone. Or another person who just needs to be reminded that “evil starts with treatin’ people as things.”
I’ve voted against hate and towards body autonomy in every election large or small since 1978, and while it’s been 2 steps back for every step forward, that’s no reason to give up.

politics @lemmy.world•Democrats Lose by Punching Down on Trans Issues, Strategists Say - Assigned Media
2·9 days agoYou’ve made a lot of incorrect assumptions in that long screed.
Guess what?
I’m not trans.
I’m not mentally ill.
I think it’s worth thinking about the erasure and maltreatment of trans people.
I’m not going to let you do it without pointing it out.
Fascists start with the most vulnerable members of society, and they tell the rest of society that they can’t have relief from their own problems like shortages of food and housing until they leave behind those people.
You’re falling into that trap, and it’s especially sad since you too are part of a group that they’ll say should be left behind. They already consider autistic people as damaged as trans people, it’s the dark current underlying the antivax narrative.
It’s not only possible to care about trans people, people with disabilities, abortion rights, mail-in voting, homeless people, immigrants, healthcare inequity, poverty, food insecurity, and worker abuse at the same time, it’s easy because they all come down to the same essential thing.
Taking away from one of us takes from all of us. To forget that is to forswear your own humanity.

politics @lemmy.world•Democrats Lose by Punching Down on Trans Issues, Strategists Say - Assigned Media
72·10 days agoThen you should have worded it in a way that actually supports trans people.
If I said, “If you see the homeless people in the streets, the unaffordable gas prices, and the moms who can’t feed their children, and you’re still blaming immigrants, you’re either a racist or an idiot” you wouldn’t assume I was contrasting racists and idiots, you would know I was putting them in the same boat.
There’s a lot of better ways you could have written your comment if that’s not what you intended.
And even if I grant you the most leeway possible, you’re still throwing the trans people under the bus by saying nobody else should be thinking about them, even if it’s in a supportive way.
I didn’t downvote your original comment at first because I hate to do that, but now that I’m seeing how deep you want to dig this grave for yourself, I’m going to do so because you’re a waste of Internet space.

Lemmy Shitpost@lemmy.world•Recession indicator, what do you call this dish?
17·11 days ago“hamburger” or “hamburger meat” is what many people in the US call ground beef. Just as in other places they might call it “mince.”
The product proposes to help make one pound of hamburger meat fill a family of 4. It’s not as nourishing or effective as adding a bunch of vegetables and spices but it’s shelf-stable and quickly prepared.
Why’d you type a butthole in the middle of France tho?
