I think you are right about most of the things you are saying. But for all the bad to trickel down to the troops will take years.

I was in the Marine corps for 10 years. I can’t tell you who the generals where back then. It didn’t really matter, all the training is done by experts at much lower ranks.

So my point is, that while yes the upper leadership is bad, the acually boots on the ground soldiers still know how to fight as well as they did a few years ago. It could take years for the rot at the top to creep down through all levels.

I have been feeling the same way. I am kinda in a " I hope it all burns down. Then they will understand how stupid they are" mood about things as of late.

While its true that the far right has way more gun owners than the left. There are still a fair number of us that are armed. I do think it will be interesting if they try to take back all the guns, like maybe that will be the thing that finally wakes up so of these assholes. Not the super MAGAs that are just drinking in the shit, but I personally know a few people that said the biggest reason the vote Republican is because they are afraid of the left taking their guns
