If this is the end of what he does, then yea, I’ll definitely be disappointed. If he follows up and goes harder, then I think this is perfectly fine as a start.

I’ve seen plenty of talk on liberal media that is doing just that. The difference is the Conservative media machine is far more robust and wide spread than anything liberal.

This is hardly a punt though and I don’t believe is catering to moderates. It put a spotlight on the situation and called for action. Next step is to escalate, which should reasonably happen within a couple days of the initial statement he released. Anyone that stays home because the statement from the governor of Kentucky was harsh enough is an idiot and absolutely would shoulder some blame for not voting and losing an election. It’s not like Beshear raped kids or did something bad. It can definitely be argued his actions don’t go far enough, but only an real moron would decided to sit out the election because of this and deserves every bit of criticism coming their way.

Like I said, I agree with you. Unfortunately, not everyone does. If a politician loses too much favor, the spot often flips to the other side. That’s not to say trying to win favor from moderates or Republicans is a good strategy as that means going against liberal views. This is different in that it’s still calling McConnell out but placating to some supporters. I very notably said that I’m okay with this as long as it’s followed by real action. If not, then it’s just empty words. It’s a fine first step if it is just the first step.

If McConnell were no longer senator before Aug 4th, Beshear would call a special election to fill the seat. Even if Republicans win, that would mess with midterms, campaign funds, and there’s not a primary so Massie could run, opening Pandora’s box for Republicans. Special elections also haven’t been going great for Republicans, so there’s a non zero chance it could flip.

McConnell doesn’t have to allow visitors and hospitals won’t just let a person go to patient rooms without permission. If he’s not making any public statements, he’s definitely not going to allow a Democrat to visit him.

Ideally if we had something like ranked choice voting, we wouldn’t have primaries and people would get a better say on who they vote for. In FPtP, I agree that it’s a valid law to patch a flaw.

I think this is a good first action as long as it’s followed up with what you’re saying. While I’m all for ruthless, I think that some supporters or potential supporters may see it poorly to go super hard on someone possibly on their deathbed. Releasing a public statement giving an opportunity to prove he’s capable of doing his duties can’t really be attacked by anyone and opens the door to push harder if nothing comes from the request. If there’s nothing by end of week, it may be more acceptable to some people at that point to press the issue.

I think Israel committing genocide is worse than the US supporting it. Both bad, one is literally pulling the trigger. I think that Russia’s invasion of Ukraine is worse than the US attacks in Iran. Both bad, one has a lot more indiscriminate killing. I think the China’s genocide of Uyghurs is worse than the US supporting other bad things. Both bad, one is a literal genocide.

Both opinions are based on reality. You have a hardon for hating the US so will do everything you can to paint it as the worst. I see the US as bad but not as bad as those other aforementioned countries.

It actually is my opinion. You typed a bunch of stuff, and I’m sure you make some fine points, but at the end of the day, it’s all opinion for how a person ranks bad to more bad. I feel what Israel, Russia, and China are doing is worse than the US. You feel that perhaps that’s not true. We have different opinions, which is fine.

It wasn’t my claim, but I would imagine OP maybe referring to the active Uyghur and Turkic Muslim genocide. The US government and by proxy the military commit numerous atrocities. The most recent action in Iran being extremely relevant. As bad as those acts are, imo they still fall short of what Russia, Israel, and China are doing. Again, not a defense of the US, just my opinion on how those 4 nations stack up. And to reiterate, all should be banned from international events like the Olympics.

That wasn’t a defense of the US. It was pointing out that while the US is bad, others are worse. They even closed out saying they agree US shouldn’t be allowed in internationally competition. Nobody should be genociding, some are genociding harder than others, all should be banned.

Al Franken is a prime reason why you don’t ostracize someone on allegations alone.
