Can we stop this false narrative that Trump had big gains with black voters? He gained 2 pts with black men and lost 2 pts with black women compared to 2020. This is a MINORITY DEMOGRAPHIC, and he made virtually no gains.

I don’t know what point of mine you’re trying to rebuttal? None of what you said changes the fact you need majorities to move the country left. Indies have always been the biggest alignment demo, but are also the least reliable, not only can they not vote for you, they can vote against you. Election with good economies usually have less indies voting overall. These are not a demographic that want to be apart of any party.

But most importantly, this still dosent address the major issue. FLIPPING RED STATES. Indies are used to win battleground states, hence why they decide elections. But strong blue/red states are rarely flipped off indies, you’d need alignment shifts within the population. Virginia and Ohio are perfect examples of the population shifting towards and away from populism.

It’s literally impossible to move this country left with any policy if you can’t flip Republican seats. This is a democracy, (that’s heavily rigged in favor of red states). Majorities are king. Not to defend Hakeem Jeffries, but it dosent matter if he, AOC or Karl Marx himself were speaker of the house, without a majority. You’re at the mercy of the party the American people elected over you.

That person is more aligned with the “enlightened centrist” than we are. Theres a decent amount of them in the black community, who just complain about politics as whole, but will entertain Trump because he’s “different”, but still won’t vote because the community will hold it against them.

They do not represent actual black voters, they are more like your average modern populist. Reliable black voters know the game of politics, black folks tend to vote more collectively than individual. Hence why the Dems consistently get 80%+ of the black vote in the general and 1 candidate becomes the clear front runner for black voters in the primary.

Nah, it’s all a pendulum effect. Being in the right place at the right time. Yes identity matters, but if the race isn’t too polarizing, those low info voters will stay home instead of voting against a woman or minority.

Progressives need to stop complaining about South Carolina and stay on message. Like you said Georgia and Maryland, and even throw North Carolina in there, have a high concentration of black voters, where a majority of them are to the left of SC’s black population. But progressives forget this.

AOC is not winning SC without some major endorsements and a heavily cracked field. But she dosent need to, John Kerry already showed it’s possible to win the nomination without it by making sure your coalition is strong elsewhere.

I mean in terms of the actual election. Not how they will govern afterwards.

AOC has never claimed to be a communist or freedom fighter. Socialist will still compromise to forward their agenda.

And I’m trying to stick to OC’s statement. AOC is the most left leaning person in these hypothetical primaries who is polling anywhere near Kamala and Newsom (who I believe will be the front runners). Unless someone else shows up better by late 2027. We need to put our support behind AOC if she decides to run. It’s the most left we can get. And honestly, the primary dosent need to be 5 DSAs all splitting the vote. Chose 1, and ride with them.
